Wow I was away from L4D a couple weeks. What the hell has happened to the Survival mode? It used to be one of my favorites for a quick zombie fix. Now all you seem to find are lame glitch noobs in every pub server.

Whether its the warehouse roof, box flipping the drains, AC on rooftop, jumping off the building in Crane. It doesn't matter the majority of matchmade games are retarded 10 year olds glitching or building fence fortresses. This game has gone retarded. Hell even versus mode is retarded since any team you play will usually quit if dominated.

I hope they fix this shit or at least try to minimize it in L4D2.

The very thought of having to buy L4D2 in order to "fix" this is really lame, they have a lot of nerve working on L4D2 when the original is in such a bad shape.

L4D's primary problem is the lack of content, it pretty much just has 4 maps. Probably no other game in the history of gaming has sold 4 maps for 50 bucks. Thus it's no surprise once the novelty wore off most players left and went back to their other favorite multiplayer games - thus the situation you have today.

If L4D didn't have "Valve" slapped on it I doubt it would have had anywhere close to the success it enjoyed. IMO 50 bucks should be at least 12 maps (or campaigns, whatever you want to call it. Splitting one map into 5 parts doesn't magically make it 5 maps).

Tell me about it. They said they started work on L4D2 in January, thats only 5 weeks after L4D's release! It's VERY obvious that the content in L4D2 was originally supposed to be the DLC for L4D. Someone at Valve said "fuck it, let's repackage this DLC as L4D2 and milk the community for another 50 bucks lololol". So lame. Hrm I just noticed the L4D2 boycott group has crossed 40,000 members. Not surprised at all.

Survival mode had barely any appeal to me.
Sitting in a corner and mindlessly killing bots over and over and over.
One mistake and youre team is done. Start over.
You can't really blame the glitch abuser players as all you're aiming for is surviving for long.
Whats the point of playing 'fair' against computer bots?

I just got the medal/achivements and never looked back.
Versus is where L4Ds fun is at.

and yeah I realize L4D still has so many issues in general but a fun versus game can still be fun.

its 5maps to a movie. there is 20 maps in l4d1.
As I mentioned in my post above, splitting one map into 5 parts doesn't magically make it 5 maps. From the speed runs thread people complete these parts in 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds etc. Sorry, but that's not a map. Now an entire campaign - that's close to a "map" in the traditional sense of the word.

L4D sorely lacked content, especially for a game which shipped at 50 bucks.

Each map is 5 minutes at max and incredibly linear. Theres only so much you can do in a "map". Even the "campaigns" are now incredibly predictable even though the "Director" was supposed to make every game different. I stopped playing when I realized I was having more fun playing with griefers and was close to becoming one myself.

By that logic Half-Life 2 is one map.

Indeed, my brother's friend was one of the HL2 speed runners... and he was on the HL2DQ team... they finished HL2 in ~ 90 minutes... ? Different sections were split up.

The problem with L4D is valve expected the community to actually work together in the game modes, the game forces you to do that and with public servers it just doesn't work out that way.

L4D at a LAN is some of the most fun I've had playing games at a LAN, it really is a LAN game and nothing more. But it was worth $50, and I'll buy L4D2 as soon as it comes out... :p

If you got some friends who play with mics, Versus is the most fun I have had in a game.

Gets old when every server you join is Clan/Pubstomps. I swear I think there are people that study this game 24/7 to know every single aspect of a map in Versus- kinda gets annoying after a while.

Agree totally. It's a great game to play with friends.

That's my point, is have the entire game be just your friends, especially when you're in the same room.

Versus mode with 8 of us in the same room was amazing... TF2 has similar moments when we're all on the same team / working together... CS:S , CoD4 .. anything really...

If you try to play pubs w/ L4D you will be disappointed no doubt..

I've got 100+ hours into L4D, that's more than enough to make it worth $50.

I don't play pubs either, EVER. Out of the people on my friends list, somewhere between 25-50 play L4D I would guess. That 25-50 people, I knew a few of them to start with, we play with their friends and their friends who are fun to play with, I add to my friends list, then play with them and their friends, so on and so forth, and now here I am with a bunch of people that are good to play with. Any evening I want a game, I don't have a problem finding one.

That may not be the path for you... but that's how I still have fun with L4D.

Why? How is L4D not a complete game?

There have been far worse game releases that were sold for $50...

So much whinging on here.

The content is L4D is fine, Versus, 4 Campaigns (Crash Course coming) and survival. Add in to the mix the add on campaigns, such as Death Aboard, Heaven Can Wait, 7 Hours Later, Power Station, Night Terror, Back to School and DeadCity to name but a few then the game is looking in decent shape.

I agree to some extent about pub servers, too many idiots but sometimes you can find some great games and then add the quality players to your friends list and thus friends only games where things really get fun. Playing campaigns, official or add ons with a friend over a headset is brilliant co-op fun.

I may be in the minority but I'm looking forward to L4D2, I won't be boycotting it. I bet half of those on the boycott group will end up buying the game. PC gamers are as fickle and something very fickle.

I paid £13 for the game and I've played nearly 40 hours already, that's bloody good value to me.

This is why I look forward to thew new Aliens Versus Predator coming out by Rebellion (the studio that produced the original AVP Gold Edition about 10 years ago).

Can't wait to shoot up some xenomorphs that can crawl walls and jump over your head. Alot more exciting than hordes of zombies.

Me2.

It looks like they've got jungle maps for the new AVP. As fun as the first two were they were pretty closed in, I think it'll be great fun having a more open environment.

yep Survival has always sucked, only good for 1 run each map.

The only purpose of this game is for the multilayer VS.

If you bought this game for a single player game you fail as a consumer.

L4D is a great buy for the smart gamer who looks into what the game is before buying. Valve is not at fault in the slightest for stupid consumers who bought a game they didn't like, or bought a game for its unlimited future content and not the current content.

I hope the boycotter's learned lessons from their own mistakes and avoid L4D2 like Swine Flu. Smart Consumers will buy L4D2 knowing full well that it is nothing more than a multiplayer zombie game which core content lies in battling other players.

/\ waste of 1 minute because Smart consumers already know this and stupid consumers can't comprehend this.

L4D is a really good game, but it has the worst community out of any game I have played. I had so much fun for a month or so, and then the community just kept getting progressively worse. Too many damn kids in there. Every game is bad, but the small team sizes in L4D just make it that much worse. I only play with friends, but we can't even get an opposing team that isn't full of quitters -- even when we don't try!

I haven't played in a couple months now due to shitty people. I'll stick with TF2 for now, but Im sure I'll buy L4D2 when it comes out.

Oh my god amen. I played during the free trial weekend they had and that was all needed to know that I didn't want to associate with these people. The game itself was actually really good. I'm just more used to simulation type mods with an older mature community.

Yeah, a free weekend is a great time to form an opinion about a game's community. :p

Actually it is, that's kind of the idea behind it. See that's the kind of ignorance that annoys me.
