Yeap, the original one.

Ive had it for a long time, but, heh, ive never actuallly played it. I think all ive done in the game was gambled a bit, fought a bit in the arena and explored a tiny bit to the point where you can choose to have the Wookie on your team.

Ive just reinstalled this game (seeing as how my card is artifacting like a bunghole when playing TF2) and was wanting to know what the [H] thought about this game. I know there is another sequel-ish game to this one...Perhaps if I finish this game, I'll be more interested in the getting the 2nd one????

How did YOU like the game?

Did you go the DARK SIDE way of the force or ?????

its an amazing game, the second i finished playing it i started over again. the plot is good enough to be a movie. its just awesome, cant really put it in words.

It's the best game I've ever played. Finished it like 7 times already and did every possible quest on the game. Each playthrough took me near 40 hours to complete. On my personal favorites I would rank it as:

1) KotOR
2) VTM: Bloodlines
3) KotOR 2

KotOR 2 would be on second place if it was finished, and with team gizka's efforts it might happen in a few months.

KOTOR was the best rpg I have ever played, absolutley loved every second of game play, and there were a LOT of seconds. Must have game. I went light side.

I played throught the game 3 times. Played light and dark. Yea, hated every second of the 120 hours I put into the game . . .

1 of the best games I've ever played. Good storyline, character development, graphics and the rest made this a classic for me. I played both sides. Dark side was more fun because the powers were more interesting. Also the storyline was even better than the entire pre-star wars trilogy (the Natalie Portman one).

KotOR is a great game. So much fun that I played it once on the Light side, and once on the Dark side. Its sequel isn't as fun or rewarding. I played the Light side and didn't feel like going through it again for the Dark.

So am I the only person who played a middle-of-the-road character who used both Light and Dark powers? Sure you may not be quite as powerful, but certainly much more diverse. I just couldn't see playing the game without Force Lightning. Of course this meant I couldn't use the uber Light armor at the end of the game, but oh well.

The second one was ok, but certainly not as good as the first. The story was a bit... disjointed. I may have to look into the mod mentioned above to see if it rounds out the rough edges.

I thought Kotor was more fun playing through as a dark jedi. I found it tough to be mean/evil and often did good things, but just asked for a reward at the end. :D

KOTOR is one of my favorite games of all time. Possibly also the best SW game of all time. Prior to that I was not really into RPGs, now I love them. I played it through a few times, I might just reinstall. I remember thinking Manaan was gorgeous.

KOTOR2 lacked the polish and depth that the first did, even though they added special jedi classes and more customizeable weapons. The characters weren't as memorable either.

I think I played thru 6 times overall. Played a different race, sex, Jedi caste (forget what the 3 types are now) and alignment each time. Also tried making some people hate me, others love me, using 2 lightsabers vs. one double-bladed one, going to planets in a different order... so many different choices that could be made.

Wonder if this works on Vista 64. Would be fun to play it again some weekend.

1 out of 12 people hated the game. Not too bad.

So, for the most part, everyone really liked the game and in most cases, played it several times thru.

So, what did you guys like about the game, specifically? Was there a main FORCE weapon I should get later in the game? Was there/is there a special skill you used ALL THE TIME? Why that weapon, i.e. what made it so good you rarely used anything else?

Anything else I should look out for while playing.....that is, without using a spoiler.

ive only played it on the origional xbox, and its by far one of the best games ever.

I liked the Star Wars RPG part of it. I found it really cool wielding lightsabres, flying the Ebon Hawk, etc. The story was great, running around different planets and cities was fun. The powers were pretty cool.

KOTOR is easily one of the best games I have EVER played. Great story line that kept pulling me back in, interesting powers and ways to solve problems. The Dark side was more fun for me in that game :D

KOTOR 2 disappointed me... It was lacking a lot of what the original had and in that aspect it let me down...

1 Word....STORY!!!

This has to be the most engaging, story driven game on the pc (even though its an xbox port). Nothing to complain about this game. Its amazing. KOTOR 2 not so much. I suggest you buy and play through it. its roughly 40 hours and thats including just a few side missions and not the whole lot.

Loved the storyline. Combat was way to easy, no challenge what so ever. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the best game ever though.

The game was awsome! Played it through on Xbox years ago and just had to buy it for PC a few months ago and play it again.

There are some bugs to work out and troubleshooting can be a pain, but it was worth it in the end for the hours of enjoyment I got out of KOTOR.

I tended to be a jedi gaurdian, and focussed mainly on physical feats. I liked to dual wield a pair of sabers so I could get different hit properties on each. Like one would have a chance to stun or something. Force Speed + Master Flurry turned me into a chainsaw.

I would have to say the story and the character depth would be two of the big highlights that I liked about KoTOR. I found the actual combat to be really well streamlined and seamless. The graphics I thought were also pretty good, I think it was a modified NWN engine.

When you go to other planets, how is that done exactly? I mean, do you actually get to fly/pilot the ship and control it, or is it just like a click on planet name and bam, your there?

Force Speed and Master Flurry ehhh. Sounds interesting...Did you choose those skills thru trial and error or is that just something that was known to do?

Unfortunately, you don't get to fly the Ebon Hawk... :( But there is stuff to do with the storyline onboard (I don't want to give anything away).

As far as skills, there is a wide range of paths to take... thus, the replayablity of the game. Skill paths, alignment paths, storyline paths, etc... makes for a LOT of replayability.

I liked playing the dark side; but found it difficult to be ultimately evil and yet make some good sided choices to get the most out of the storyline. Fun though!

Also... try to get force speed with dual blasters going as a true test of difficulty. Fun once you get the hang of it :D

Kind of just stumbled into it once. I read master speed gives you 3 additional attacks per turn, and then master flurry gives you 3 hits per attack. Worked like a charm, combine it with a good stun effect its great.

Well, okay, I misspoke earlier. You don't actually fly the Ebon Hawk, but it is your transportation. That's what I meant. The story in both games is generally linear, but you will have a handful of opportunities to choose which planet to visit. Then I think it's just a cut-scene and then you're there.

I played the first game on my roommate's computer, and last year I bought the sequel. I may have to get the first one again though. I'm starting to get a bit nostalgic.

Cool cool....Yeah, I didnt think we got to actually pilot it, but a guy can hope, ehh. hehe.

Replayability...You know, I sit here right now trying to think of a single game I beat, then played again and I cant think of a single game except for Super Mario Bros. heh. Thats cool its got that ability. I'll definately keep that in mind when I play.

So thats like 9 hits with one turn. Sounds damn nice. Thats definately something I will keep in mind. I dont exactly want to be some uber god playing the game, but then again, I TOTALLY do NOT want to be a nancy pancy jedi who gets his butt kicked as soon as he walks in the door. Thanks for the info.

I appreciate all you guys who have attributed to my thread. Even though its about an old game, you still gave your 2 cents and I thank you for that. :)

Amazing, fantastic game, particularly for those who loved the tabletop experience that we got in the Gold Box games 20 years ago. Best thing about the PC version of the first one was that extra space station you could go to that had all the expensive goodies, especially those killer lightsaber crystals. :D

Honestly, I both loved KOTOR 2 more and hated it more. I loved it more because of the raised level cap and additional items and skills, but I also hated it because it had a score of problems that patches couldn't fix. The process of tracking down the fixes for these was infuriating, particularly when the fixes were found not on Lucasarts' "Support" site, but on enthusiast sites where they had created workarounds and third party patches.

Is Team Gizka really going to finish their work? I'm a little skeptical, but I'll definitely replay if it does come out.

I dunno. I'm sure it'll come out someday. I'm not gonna sell my copy of KotOR II, so when/if it comes out, it'll be a good reason to dust off the game and fire it up again.

Anyone selling their KotOR I for cheap? :D

I hated the game. :(

I tried but it was soooo boring, respawns every time I'd go outside, felt like a port... meh. Damn it. I'm going to keep at it and someday I will like this game.

Well if you don't, I'll take it. Charitable donation? I mean, my copy of KotOR II needs its predecessor, right?

<whistle>

I played this game, really enjoyed it. I remember I got to the very last fight though and for some reason I couldn't finish the VERY last part of the game. It was frustrating, I tried everything, but couldn't do it (Didn't have the right force powers I think). Maybe there was a way, but I couldn't figure it out.... so I quit there, I think I played the last movie in media player... if there was, if not I just said "well, close enough" and closed the game... maybe I should play it again, haha.

I do not remember any respawns, do you happen to remember where those were so I can grind? ;)

I love Bloodlines!
Looking forward to playing Bioshock, Mass Effect and Fallout :)

Kotoe has a very good plot twist, and great character development. If you love to tinker and have a great story, then this game is for you. The action is quite fun too! :D

Got back into KOTOR over the weekend, I'm kind of impressed with the graphics since they're from 2003, characters still look pretty decent, not too blocky, textures are sharp, lots of detail with people walking around everywhere. I forgot how good of a game it was, and how much detail was put into it.

Only 2 hours into it, although maybe 3 with saving/loading. I have a feeling I'll play through the whole game again :D

Edit: woot for resurrection!

KOTOR<=----- easily in the top 5 best games I have ever played and I never played RPG's...and I've been gaming for quite a while. Easily the best storyline and cinematic gameplay outside of God of War and the original Metal Gear Solid.

I've been meaning to reinstall it and play through again for the Light side... I think I'll do that today. (Especially since the new 1.4 patch for Enemy Territory:Quake Wars made the game a heaping pile of pure rubbish)

I played through as the lightside the first time, thought I might go through as the dark side the second time... but I find it's helpful and kind of fun to be able to persuade people, but I find I just keep getting lightside points *sigh* Oh well, I'm a good guy I guess.

You just gotta choose the worst option possible every time.

Person: "Thanks for helping me! Let me give you something in return."

1. "Your thanks is reward enough."
2. "Any time, and thanks for the money."
3. "Give me more money or I'll blast you."
4. "You're dead!" *blaster shot*

Of course, Carth will always object if you choose 3 or 4, but it's always funny to hear him whine about it. Dark Side responses are usually more fun.

lol, I want to, but I feel bad.... damn video games. That's it, next time I play, it's death to the children!
