so im thinking of buying the exos or the exos that comes with the case but is it the same cooling system? The external cooling system is only 20 dollars cheaper then the one built into the koolance case i was wondering if the one in the case is any good?

also, do either system come with the heads? Ive seen one for sale that did but i think that was just a store-only deal or something. The case one also had a PSU where i saw it, and from the looks of the website it doesnt come with any fans, no PSU and no heads.

basically i was just wondering if anyone knows if the built in exos is the same as the external exos. I thought about buying the one in the case already IF its the same quality. Guess ill just accept that i wasted over 100$ on a new case aboue a month ago . Hopefully you guys will tell me that the external coolance system is better hehe

Corsair Hydrocool is also something i am thinking about right now

Koolance > Hydrocool...

Anyway Koolance and Exos are the same except as you have noticed Exos is external. They use the same pumps/same reservoir/same tubing/same cooling. Probably the same fans too. Radiator I don´t know but perhaps they got something lighter for the Exos to save weight.

If you got a good case an Exos would do fine I would believe. However the Koolance case is really good and get the job done.

But out of cooling performance I would imagine they are pretty equal

Actually I think the EXOS may work just a little bit better cause of the way the air flows through it !
The built in the case units have two fans blowing down and one pulling air out !
The external EXOS has all three fans pulling air up through the rad !

I can't speak personally about the Koolance case, but I do have an Exos. It is a pretty good system once you accept its inherent limitations.
I have a Athlon XP 2800 (Barton core) and a ATI 9800XT on the system and I maintain temps of around 35-37 idle and 39-40 load (with the GPU cooking away). It is a pleasure to install and maintain.
I would have liked to see one pump that is more powerful (vice 2 less powerful units) and some 1/2 ID tubing. But, as it stands, I would reccomend this system to anyone.
One thing to note...... It is fairly quiet in mode 1 and 2. Mode 3 gets a bit louder, but does not offer any significant inprovement in water temp. FYI.

Yeah but the Koolance case got a plastic cover underneith the radiator to prevent heat from case being sucked up by the fans. And if they make the radiator lighter/smaller it perhaps don´t perform as well. But honestly the difference in performance is subtle at most.

Remember, the EXOS will move from case to case and allow you to have whatever case you want for your system.

The regular Koolance setup will mean you have to use that case and keep your system in it for as long as you want to use the watercooling system.

When I get my income tax return back I plan on getting the EXOS. The case I have I like and works for what I have. It's a bit too small with everything I have in it to actually install a pieced together watercooling setup so that is why I'm going with the EXOS.

I don't care for being stuck with a specific case to use with my watercooling setup. Later on, if the EXOS is still up and running and the new BTX form factor finally arrives, the most I'll have to do to get my setup going is get a new waterblock if the one I'll have won't support the processor I'll end up with. The Koolance case will have to be replaced to move to the new form factor. Sure, some people won't use the setup for that long and others will say that it will be a while before BTX actually comes about (and they're right) but I'll worry about that when I actually migrate to it. As of now, I'll know I can still use the EXOS with the switchover. To me it's some of the easier "future proofing" I can do with my system.

How much are you OCing your processor, I have the 2500 @ 2.2 and im getting lower temps then that with my dp102. The noise really isnt enough for me to justify a 200 dollar cooling system.

I know my temps are not the best in the business. To put the performance gain of the Koolance into perspective..... I went from a SLK900A with a 80mm Tornado (HS Lapped to a mirror finish) and getting idle temps of around 46-48. I had switched from a Asus A7N8X D ver 1.04 to a ver 2.0 and things went hay wire. I knew that my temps were higher then they should be, but my system was rock solid and I had done everythig I could. Eventually, I got sick of the noise the Tornado produced and moved to the Exos. By making the switch, I carved 10c+ off my idle temp. Now, Are my temps now great? No. Are they far better then what I was getting with what is arguably the best air solution out there? Yes.
I did notice that my temp increasd about 1-2c after putting my 9800XT on the system. I assume that is normal though, as that card gets HOOOTTT.
Its kind of weird for me. I go through spurts of being a temperature feind. I will obsess with my temperatures and buy all kinds of stuff to lower them. After a while of being angry that I never get temps as good as the rest of you, I give up and enjoy my computer.

I like my external koolance Exos, not a bad performer. Not the best performer but in my opinion the simplicity/ease of use and it being compatible with AMD socket A and the socket 478 setup i think it kind of makes up for it. I'd just go for the external solution since you can pretty much put it anywhere you want and you can use it with whatever case you want. My temps on my athlon XP 2000+ (like a 100 Mhz overclock, bought cheapass ram since i never wanted to overclock, errg now i'm sorry) and i never get temps over 40C, but usually they are around 30C on the temp monitor on my Abit KG7-RAID (a little old) anyway not a bad setup. I got it since i wanted to eventually get a P4 anyway (soon now). I think the external would be better.

alright so you did see a huge decrease in temps then, just didnt have good ones to begin with.

Thanks.

anyone with news on the Corsair hydrocool?
