My cat persists in laying on top of the PC and causing it to overheat. To the point where coretemp does an emergency shutdown. I have a top exhaust H110 radiator in a Fractal Design R5. Would I see a big temperature increase moving it to the front and blowing the hot air in? Otherwise I'm going to need to build some kind of shroud for it and I'm just not that handy.

I have a cat that did the same on an old case I had that blew hot air out of the top. I found an old CD holder that was a metallic mesh and put that on top to stop her. Worked well, and didn't reduce the airflow noticeably.

Currently she tries to lay on my router in an attempt to cook it. Starting to think I need a 3D printer to print little plastic spikes to tape on the router to discourage her from this behavior!

My dad used to work for a pest control company and they used spikes similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/Bird-X-Plastic-Polycarbonate-Spikes-Adhesive/dp/B0019F8IX6

Alternatively, I would rig up a $5 mosquito tennis zapper and have it shock the cat when she laid down on it. https://www.amazon.com/E-TRENDS-Rec...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=Q11V70Y5XDB891KATP7G

One of our cats hates just the sound of the coil charging in the zapper, they sell trainers which do the same: https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Ultr...TF8&qid=1492015960&sr=1-4&keywords=ultrasonic

Moving your rad to the front will help. It won't blow "hot" air into the case, but it'll be warmer than before. I don't think you'll see a massive increase in the temps of your other components. Just make sure you're still exhausting well when the offending feline is there: get a good high flow fan for the rear.

Heh.... I love this thread so much even though I can't help. Time to switch to SFF?

Throw something like this on top of the case, keeps the air venting and lets the cat stay warm at the same time.

I like the monitor stand idea. A couple of zip ties and good to go. Think I'll just make it out of some rebar and couple chunks of wood. Will see if that keeps them away. Thanks all

My cats do this also on my X5... While in use I shoo them off it though.. but do I have to keep it covered 24/7 while not in use because else it would have a sea of cat hair and particles inside. They also throw up a bit and I would freak if that went in my PC. I like the stand idea. Maybe with a slim profile cat bed attached to it.

You'll see about a 1-2C difference in the exhaust temps and very little else will change.
