So, I am looking to need any upgrade, currently I am running an overclocked AMD Phenom II X4 925(@ 3.2Ghz), 8GB of DDR2 1066, ATI 4890HD and Gigabyte GA-MA780G-UD3H which uses a 780G NB. I am wondering if it worth keeping my CPU and just upgrading to a 970 or 990 Mobo and getting new ram? Or go the Intel route and start over?

Since you're getting a new mobo and RAM, might as well go with a newer and faster CPU to match. So yes go the Intel route and start over
