A great price for a great piece of software, IMHO. Kaspersky 6.0, along with NOD32, is one of the best anti-virus programs around.

well, both rebates are linked to on the page the product is listed on. I'm sure if you wanted to get both rebates you could call their number and talk to a sales rep.

I don't know anything about kaspersky, I use AVG and that's free after downloading. :)D)

There's been a few times where Kaperski AV has found stuff that AVG and CA had missed, and never the other way around ;)

I'm not saying its the silver bullet but i'd def take it over symantec any day.

I switched from norton to kaspersky. I love it. I have an interesting story. After removing norton and installing kaspersky I did a full system scan. It said it found a virus in one of my ebooks. I am an IT consultant and I have a bunch of ebooks in .chm format on my pc on various topics from SQL server to .NET etc.. I was really bummed because it was a book on how to administer your network using vbscript with examples. I use this book all the time. It said it found a trojan downloader virus in my ebook. I have a chm decompiler so I decompiled the ebook to a bunch of html pages and thought I would try and remove the virus so I could save the ebook. I scanned the pages of the ebook and it found the virus on page 95. I opened up page 95 and guess what! It was an example on how to use vbscript to download data using HTTP. Kaspersky was able to recognise a paragraph of code in my ebook and figure out what it was used for. Thats just amazing to me. It turned out to be a false alarm but I have much more confidence in Kasperski than I ever did in Norton.

That is called a 'False Positive'
-----

does Kasperski kill your PC game performance like Norton does? I'm ready to try anything new at this point.

Its the only false positive I have seen so far. It not a problem. I would prefer a false positive every once in a while instead of missing something. As far as performance goes I havent noticed any lag but I havent tried to measure it either.

kaspersky is by far my favorite anti-virus app out there. it uses minimal resources and gets the job done very well.

This is a great deal, i just ordered one for me even though i already have kaspersky

Kaspersky is really good. I've tried them all and so far am happiest with it.

You can download the FULL version at Newegg for $35. :D

There's only one rebate listed on outpost and the final price AR is listed as 34.99

kaspersky has killed my machine and a friends... Panda is the only thing that even comes close. and I mean CLOSE... all anti-virus software is a scam.

use firefox and be careful what you download, and you'll never need it.

Am I the only person left on the planet that doesn't use any kind of antivirus program on my home pc? I use Adaware and Spyware blocker regularly but I've found av programs to cause more trouble than a format/reinstall. :D

My surfing is limited to few sites that I've been visiting for years, I delete most of my e-mail before opening it and I never randomly download and install things. In over 12 years of computing I've only had one confirmed virus (back during my *ahem* "filesharing" days) so I guess it doesn't seem worth it to me.

Nope :D I do the same thing and just have a clean image ready to go. But I do sometimes wonder if there could be some silent virus on my machine working away and I dont even know it, but at the same time part of me almost doesn't care since I have no performance complaints gaming etc..

I remember reading some reviews that pcillin is the best, but that could have been biased?

I 'll have to check out this Panda AV that Hiltonizer mentioned.

So has anyone actually got the Kaspersky for free yet? or is it just 1/2 price?

Have ya checked for rootkits?

No you're not the only one. I don't use any anti-virus OR anti-spyware software. Every once in a while I run 'ccleaner' to erase cookies and such but that's the extent of it. I find that paying $40+ for 'common sense' is a little ridiculous.

Edit - Being a computer technician, I have performed little 'experiments' with viruses to test the effectivness of removal tools and AV softwares but that doesn't count.

Same here :D

I use yahoo email. They can send me all the viruses they want. They'll never run on y machine...hell, Yahoo even scans the files for viruses before you can d/l them (which is kind of a pain when I know what the files are).

I can see that if you only go to certain sites that you trust over and over again, then maybe you don't need all the software, but for me I don't trust most sites, so I'm using something. You also have to be very diligent in any software you may install.

So you don't even run adaware and spybotSD? They don't always find something, but I'd say at least once every month or 2 something finds it's way on. And they both have free versions if you don't want to buy them.

I've got AV, but I could probably live without it, but I'd definitely have to browse exclusively out of a limited account.
