this is awesome i just passed my MCTS 70-620 Confirguring windows vista client with a 810, this was my first IT exam ever and now i am really motivated to keep going, since i still have all this vista crap in my head i am thinking about going for the 70-623 Supporting and Troubleshooting Applications on a Windows Vista Client for Consumer Support Technicians and then the 70-622 Supporting and Troubleshooting Applications on a Windows Vista Client for Enterprise Support Technicians

does anyone know anything about the PRO exams and tips on what path i should take from here?

Congrats :)

I passed my first exam back in 2000... It's a good feeling, keep it up..

I have no info on the newer microsoft exams, although I have taken many of the 2000/2003 server exams..

yeah the MCTS 70-620 is good for the MCSE route but i am thinking about getting into server 2008

Way to go! Nothing like being able to string a bunch of certs after your name to make your fellow IT'ers jealous :D

\CCNA, CCSA, MCP - not that it matters ;):p

i'm in it for the girls, they are going to go crazy when i tell them i am a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialst for windows vista configuration!:D

Congrats!

Yeah I passed my first back in February, so I'm now a CompTIA A+ Certified IT Technician. It was really easy, since I knew a lot of the stuff already.

At any rate, I'm testing for Network+ is June (hopefully), and probably following that with CCNA and maybe MCSA. One step at a time though.

Glad to the know the A+ was easy, I took a prep course but got lazy and never tested for it. Plan on taking my Network+ this summer too and more than likely my A+ while I am at it. I want to get my own little lab setup before I start any CCNA stuff

congrats amd_gamer! I just finished my MCSA last month. It took me forever to get started testing but once i took the first one it didnt take long. 3 tests to go till MCSE!

just stick with it and good luck.

as thecreator said. you should receive an email within a few weeks.

I'd be embarrassed to put something after my name unless it was MD, Ph.D, Esq, CPA, AIA, or CCIE.

Congrats on your first of many certs.

after looking through the material for the 70-622 it looks pretty hardcore so i think i am going to go for the Network+ next then knockout the A+ even though i don't want to do the A+ if i get those + the 70-620 i have now i would just need to do the 70-290 and 70-291 to be a MCSA or i could just go for the server 2008 exams

the network+ i think should be easy as i am a big networking guy

With the exception of CCIE, I agree with you completely. I always felt it silly when people put certs after their name... or at least, felt it would be silly if I did it. I have a ridiculous amount of certs that I only provide when asked, with the exception of forensics certifications which are required when dealing with lawyer people.

Gratz AMD_Gamer on your first test. I remember the excitement of my first one, back in the NT days, and it felt great. I then went on to crush a ton of other certs to. Welcome to a new addiction!

First: CONGRATS!

I'm taking the 70-623 in two weeks. I've already knocked out the 620. I also have the A+ & Net+. I think I'm gonna go for the MCSA 2003. The 623 doesn't look too bad at all. Very similar to 620. The 622 looks a lot rougher, but still manageable. :)

Good luck in your future test taking. It really is a blast. The 620 was my first MS exam, and it is fun. I got my MCP # in about a week. Make sure you order your welcome kit, as it doesn't come automatically.

Again, congratulations!

That's a good order... most of what's on CCNA is already covered on Network+.

During my last blast of exams for 2k3 you could put forth various other certs like A+ and Network+ towards other certs, and get a Microsoft cert if you proved you had those two. Anyone know if that's still valid or possible?

You can use a combination of A+ and either Network+ or Server+ to meet the prerequisite for the MCSA.

That's the only one I know of off the top of my head.

Yes... a+ and net+ can be used as an elective for the mcsa.... security+ can be used as an elective for the mcse.

I don't agree with this. You should be proud that you have earned the designation. If you have A+, put it behind your name. Same goes for MCP, CCNA, etc. Now i wouldnt have a long ass list of certs behind my name like MCP, MCSA, MCSE...i would just put the one that carries the most weight which would be MCSE.

Sweet i just got an email saying my exam results have been received by Microsoft :)

i also decided i am going to knock out the Network+ then the A+ and then turn around and assault the 70-290 and 70-291 and become MCSA, or by the time i am done with Network+ and A+ hopefully sometime in the next few months more info and books will be out for the server 2008 stuff so i may decide to go that route.

i am a big networking guy so i think the Network+ should be fairly easy for me

Nothin wrong with that. A women you can talk tech to and she understands is every computer techies dream (for the most part...).

Oh god yes, sadly I am married to one that gets upset with me when I try and explain things. :(
