I've just grown weary of post after uninformed post in other areas of this forum and other boards proclaiming how superior wireless is to wired. The "laser" Logitech MX1000 not helping matters at all.

Fact is, specific products aside, wireless is inferior to wired. The only argument that could possibly be made in favor of it is that it has 'convenience' by not having a cord - but that hardly makes sense to me, as you immediately run into the very pronounced INCONVENIENCE of having all the excess weight of batteries in it, and having to recharge the damn things all the time.

All for an effect you can get just as easily with a 'wired' mouse using a mouse bungee.

I was simply trying to prevent this thread from veering off into that direction.

Anyway, looking forward to your thoughts on the Diamondback.
 
My "old", well not really old since it's an OEM replacement, 1.1a Intellimouse Explorer can do 1000mhz with that patch. I have it set to 500mhz though since I want to avoid the instability that 1000mhz gives. I noticed a difference from the default right away.

How Windows File Protection works is that it checks the timestamp on the file, and the size of it. If it's different from what is in the dllcache folder, it "restores" it. This util is taking advantage of the 'save' vs 'save as...' functionality of windows. If this patch copies the usbport.sys to the dllcache folder (I think), it would be added to the 'cache' and it will be defaulted to load everytime. If it doesn't, then it will revert to 125 hz everytime you reboot after THAT reboot. I've tested it and concluded that (it was done manually with manual hex editing). If it worked for you everytime you reboot without the need to copy it to that folder then somehow it worked anyways, heh. :)

Logitech allows 200hz with the Mouseware. Any MX510 owners have experience with any patches?

I noticed you listed that you got the 'Chameleon Green' version - can you post some pics?

I'm dying to see how this looks 'IRL' - as I get the feeling the pics on the 'net just aren't doing it any justice.

FWIW, fearing that it looks crappier in person than the beauty shots, I went with the 'Salamander Red' one, so we'll see how that goes.

Oh - I'm assuming you ordered it directly from razerzone.com, right? (*I* couldn't find anyplace else to order it) How long did that take? I just put my order in today - early afternoon. Can I realistically hope to see this next week?
 
yupp, it could easily get there the next week, as soon as i take some pics i will post them up here. It does look ALOT better in person than in the photos, its one helluva mouse
worth every penny imo
