Just installed NewZon, WOW

^this has been my experience; that, and their 'restocking fee' for stuff that was shipped out as new, doesn't work, and has to be shipped back. Their concern for customers has gone out the window. Sure, after arguing with the customer service reps for a week eventually they come around and you get your money back, but that's no way to run a business; I don't buy from them anymore unless they're the only vendor that stocks the item I want. In contrast, Amazon's return policy is terrific. Anything doesn't work, they take it back and send you a new one right away (make sure you buy from Amazon, not a 3rd party vendor though).

Amazon not even going to put up a fight and start collecting sales tax in my state in September even though none of the other places I order from do.....ADIOS, AMAZON.

Get used to it, thats the way things are heading. Shop where you can tax free for now but dont expect it to last.

i love the tool. it's very useful. i like to build the same computer in both shops & see how much of a savings you get.. i've noticed that a lot of times newegg will say something has a mail in rebate & amazon seems to already include that in the price... the only thing that i can see that newegg has over amazon (a lot of the time) is that you get free games with certain things (like video cards).. and you can also get other "free" things through them that you don't get with amazon.. such as free media when buying a DVD writer or just little stuff like that.

but anyway.. i love this plugin. it's really, truly very helpful. :)

I absolutely love Amazon Prime, haven't touched newegg in 2 years until recent. Ordered a full rig shellshocker combo, only thing missing was the OS. Before I started to open up boxes and assemble, I noticed the motherboard is rated 95w while the CPU rated 125w. I hit up support and found that I can't get a refund on the mobo since it was a combo discount... :( so I have to return the entire order. Now I have to pay some brutal shipping and a possible restocking fee. FML

This recent experience will keep me away from screwegg thieves for damn sure.

Amazon is trying to gain market share and muscle out competitors, and I think they feel they are reaching that point soon too.

They are starting to ban accounts without warning, and without refund of prime shipping time or gift cards that remain unused, based on if you hit a threshold of being an unprofitable customer. Quite a few people on slickdeals have already been banned, and apparently it doesn't take that many returns if you're always only buying their low margin gold box and super sales exclusively.

Amazon prime also dropped its $3.99 upgrade to 1day shipping for any product, and even prime products no longer ship in 2-days if they are large items like they used to. Less expensive items that you used to buy prime for so you didn't have to hit a $25 limit are also removed, and are now considered "add on" items and can't be shipped by themselves. They have also changed subscribe and save items so that they don't ship immediately and are on a cycle that can take weeks to arrive. I definitely will not be renewing my prime membership when it expires in a couple months.

The biggest concern to me though is that once your account is banned, you lose all access and can no longer login. I have so many items purchased on Amazon, that I use it to track the receipts if/when I need warranty service and the like.

There is a definite risk to having too many eggs in one basket, and for this reason I'm trying to wean myself off of Amazon which is a bit easier now that they charge tax.

And BTW, my biggest concern with being banned is that the last three items I have purchased from Amazon have been extremely poorly packaged considering they were $200+ items.

I did exchanges instead of returns on them, so hopefully it doesn't impact my account as severely as it does all the people on slickdeals that have had their accounts closed without warning.

So I have to deal with the fear of losing all my receipts and prime outstanding and the like, or just accept that I've had so many damaged products shipped to me of late due to poor packaging. I'm also annoyed that despite it being a prime item, that because they are large its taking a week for each to arrive.

EVERYTHING I'm mouseover-ing is cheaper on Amazon. This is nuts. Fuck Newegg, Amazon is my new favorite computer component supplier.

That's because it's showing the price AFTER any MIRs.

Why would Amazon fight the government? You are supposed to pay taxes on all that stuff anyway...
