It's amazing. The keyboard is extremely well built, and the MX1000 is simply the best mouse ever made. It tracks just as well as any of the corded "Gaming" mice out there. And the battery life is stellar. There are lots of reviews and pics out on the net, but if anyone want's an indepth review or pics, let me know.

All I can say is if your looking for a new mouse and keyboard, and want the best, get his thing!!! I got it from Buy.com for $110.00 shipped.

How would you be able to provide feedback on the battery life if you just got it?

He could have gotten it 3 days ago, been using it heavily ever since and it would be good enough to say it has stellar battery life....which I can attest to it most definitely does. For regular computer use the charge will easily last around two weeks, and it only takes an hour or two to charge, so if you just leave it in its cradle overnight every now and again you will never have a problem.

Two weeks?!? Oh wait, Logitech, rechargable, right. Here I'm thinking my MS Intellimouse Leather that can run about 4-6 months of heavy use off a pair of AA.

Let's see, the neighbor to my right has a MX1000, my brother-in-law has a MX1000, I've built multiple computers for customers with MX1000's.

Is that enough people telling me about battery life, or do I need to send you a copy of my drivers license and birth certificate?

speaking of mx1000's ... I saw that sam's today and they had them for $59 with no rebates

See, that's much more information than you initially gave. "I know a few people who have these and the battery life is great" is much more convincing to me than "I just got this and the battery life is great" because it gives a rational basis to understand why you think what you do.

You also can't forget the Laser. Mmmm Laser. :)

If I hadn't just spent several times my budget on new hardware...

Yeah, you will pay a premium for the MX3100. I had a MX700 desktop before, so I couldn't buy just the MX1000, unless I wanted 2 base stations on my desk. So I got the 3100, and put the 700 on my wifes desktop.

But if you have a wired keyboard, the MX1000 by itself is a great deal for $59.

I've got a bit of a thing against wireless keyboards...pretty baseless, I know. Just do.

Besides which, my Saitek Eclipse should be here Monday, and that'll keep me happy for quite a while.

Truthfully, it is kind of a waste. BUT, I do sometimes carry my keyboard away from my computer a bit and use it as a remote, so I can justify it. If they wouldn't have released the MX3100, I was about to buy a good corded keyboard and just get the MX1000.

i get only about 3 days out of my mx1000 when just browsing online..... is there something wrong?

I just got the mx1000 and a good keyboard. Didnt feel like spending the extra money on codless keyboard. I dont think i will have to move the keyboard much. And 50 dollars for a keyboard is way too much. I got the mouse for 60(thats with tax).

The mouse so far is very good. It is as(if not more) good as my old mx510. As for battery life, I'll get back to you guys.

What keyboard does the 3100 come with?

I don't like the small f keys of the 3100 keyboard. :(
Yeah, that's one of the things I dinged it for on my review. Buttons are way to small.

If any of you guys want to write up your own review on the combo, or just the mouse, I'll post it in the reviews section of my site.

I just got the MX 3100.

In general, all the keys are a bit smaller than MS Natural Keyboard. Also, it has very small delay. I am not a pro but I can see the delay. When I type fast, it takes time (little delay) to catch up even though I am not typing as fast as I could right now because I don't get use to the keyboard.

The mouse is quite heavy and make my hand/wrist pain after an hour use. Now, I have to look at the keyboard sometime to locate the key. After a few weeks, I am sure I will be familiar with the new keyboard. However, the response time is never as good as the old wire MS natural keyboard. I don't not sure if it is due to the encrypt time.

The feel of the key is not quite right too. But this may be just I don't get use to it.

You have to pay a lot for the advantage of wireless. I would say it is not worth.

This is my second day to use it, maybe I wil like it better after a few weeks. After paying $100+, my expectation is high but the product does not meet all my high expectation.

I am sure logitech will release a lighter version of MX 1000 later so people will pay for it again!
