So, yesterday I was in my basement clearing it out to make more room for my automotive machine shop. I had found a crate with a whole bunch of papers, books and a bookbag full of books.

In the bag was all of my old Star Wars roleplaying books and a few game guides.

There was one for Half-Life, Full Throttle and one for Unreal.

I decided to thumb through them and see if they were worth keeping, so of course they were. As I was flipping through the Unreal book a flyer fell out, from the box of the Unreal game.

On the very back of the flyer there was this advertisment for: "Duke Nukem Forever"

This flyer is dated: "Product Catalog Spring '98"

Yes, that's right, 1998.

I was going to throw it away but damn, it's just too funny to do so.

Other things I' dlike to point out on it that are funny and sad at the same time, it's release date was Winter of 1998. And at the bottom of the flyer it states Availability Dates are Subject to Change.....

lol Change? You mean....non-existant.....lmao
 
That's cool and sad. :D How ironic that they chose the word "Forever" now, eh? Man, I remeber Full Throttle...great game.
 
I actually still own the Full Throttle game. I can get it to play in XP but I don't get any sound, same thing with Dark Forces.

Speaking of Full Throttle, theres another game that around the same time LA announced a sequal to it and it also never showed up.

I remember being so jealous of my friend because he just bought a celeron 400 and I was running a Pentium 150 with no cash and the sequal to Duke3d was coming that winter. hahaha :rolleyes:

Lol, yes at least those days are behind us now, I remember trying to game on my pentium 100 with 32mb ram and 2mb video chip, it ran age of empires but even that had slowdowns.

I'm not THAT old. :D My first machine was a C64 though. My first PC was an 8 MHz (turbo) XT with EGA graphics and 512K of RAM.

Blazingly fast!!! :D

Well he may have some inside info but I'm almost 100% certain DNF will be out this year as a 10th Anniversary thing. Plus they scrapped the game back in 2002/03 and havn't scrapped anything since then. They are still using the UT engine though, so I'm guessing it'll end up looking a little worse than the Source engine when they're done with it.
 
Eh, you could say "insider" info. I've done contract work with the guys there at 3DRealms and know a few people. Have I seen it lately? No. Are they talking about it? No. That's one tight lipped crew. In the past I've gotten only tiny tiny tidbits from them. I know they're close. Real close. My gut thinks it'll be out in one of two time frames. It's either going to be late March/April or they'll wait until September/October.

Yeah, LucasArts canned the sequels to Full Throttle and Sam and Max. I'm so pissed, I was really enticipating the Sam and Max sequel. I heard they gave another company the rights to Sam and Max or something, so I guess it may end up coming out if we're lucky.

If it comes out this year, my guess is that it'll most likely be near the end of the year. If they were going to release it around March/April, they should have started sending out early builds to start building up publicity.
