Just flashed my GT...

Yep, let that be a warning that it's not worth it.
I would have been shit out of luck had I not been able to flash it back.
It's harder to flash it back, than it is to flash it the first time.

Not if you have PCI graphics card handy. Available at e-bay for about $10 shipped :)
As for it worth it or not, if you want to stick to the "stock" idea, you can get everything running at stock. These are the sentiments that makes me wonder why people are in [H] to begin with. If it is not for you, don't. Burnt few cards myself when they were $200-$400 ranges but enjoyed it throughly while it worked. Yes it is not for someone who can't shall out another brand new card if things goes really hairy (things will go hairy if you don't have enough cooling or gone too high on voltage which is IMPOSSIBLE just doing bios mod). And if you have PCI graphics card, you can flash JUNK in there and get it back granted you saved original bios. Just because you want to play [M]ild doesn't mean it is not worth it for everyone in this forum.

its statements like the one ^ above ^ that should deter everyone from even attempting this act.

after all, why in the hell would anyone wanna risk ruining a $400+ video card for just a few more MHz here and there.

not me.

aww come on, doing a blind flash is FUN.

i'll do it again too. ;)

exactly, making a batch file and executing it blindly from a floppy shouldn't be an issue for anyone with some PC experience.

Bah, just let it go. This place has gotten so big there's more people here who aren't true [H] than are.

Don't let them deter you, without hardcore overclockers and modders, this site wouldn't exist.

If you are a newb however and can't afford to replace your hardware, for the love of god don't try this stuff at home. Remember you're reading a site full of people who like to see how far things can be pushed before they BREAK. And we BREAK stuff frequently.

The good part is that the folks here tend to find out which hardware is the best in a hurry, the bad part is little Billy over there who thinks he can mod his $400 video card wihout consequences.

Exercise Common Sense Please!

For some odd reason I get an error from nvflash saying it cant be run in dos mode. So I had to flash my bios in windows and well, now ive got a blank screen. Any ideas why nvflash 4.42 wont run in dos?

You ran it in command prompt? You have to run it from DOS boot.

no you dont.

there's a version of nVidiaflash 442 that flashes these cards just fine in Windows.

I know this because I've done mine now about 5 times trying out different settings and such.

I couldn't of replaced this card if I had screwed it over, unless you count RMA abuse as replacing :p

So, I am getting a 425/1150 Doom 3 stable overclock (but am leaving it just at default Ultra clocks to be safe)

Can someone clear up a little bit of confusion for me? What is the default core voltage for the 6800GT vs. the 6800Ultra? Also, what are the default timings of the ram (not frequencies but timings) on the two?

What sort of added overclocks are people seeing from flashing their bios? I'd like to get 450/1200 but I know that is a bit of a stretch, but it'd be nice. :D :D
