Every time I see a video of this game, I want it. The story appears meaningless but the game play looks like a riot.

So, go ahead, lay it on me. It runs like poo on a PC right? I have a PS3, but I wasted my money on Batman for that and not my PC. I really hate game controllers unless I'm flying or driving something.

If any of you have this game for the PC could you please tell me if you have any terrible issues that make it unplayable. I was only recently able to play Red Faction Guerrilla (They just patched it for Win7 like a few days ago:mad:) and that game has been out for months. I really don't want to get screwed on a bad console port again. This game just looks like it could last a long time on my PC. It also looks like a well needed break from TF2 rage.:p

It kicks ass on the PC and scales very well. You can use a controller or KBM any way you want. I love GTA 4 on its own merits but I'm having more fun with this in a lot of ways. It's a fantastic game if you're a fan of these kinds of games.

Highly recommended on platform of your choice although if you have the hardware, it's always PC all the way. ;)

I finished just cause in the weekend and playing just cause 2 now. I think the second one is great however it is weird that in the first game your like a kickass movie star while in the second one your like uncharted one.

I played the demo on my desktop and thought it was great. I had everything maxed with 4x AA and it looked awesome and played fluidly. I'll be picking it up for PC sometime in the future (hopefully near future).

There is no reason to skip this game. It looks great, runs beautifully and there is so much fun to be had.

If you are actually, seriously looking for reasons not to buy it, here's a few... you have to make up your own fun in the game. The main story is short, average and the voice acting is bad (on purpose I might add... the kind that is so bad it's good). All the fun is in the sandbox though.. you have to keep yourself entertained by doing all sorts of crazy stuff that you can think up. No structure to all that, so if you're hoping for the game to hold your hand all the way through... it won't happen.

I don't know where the 'it runs like poo on PC' came from. I'm running at 5760x1080 just fine. It's an amazing game. Just playing it is extremely fun... which is what all games should really aim for.

Definitely worth getting. It's a lot of fun. I get a kick out of gliding all over the country in my parachute. JC2 gets my vote for best sleeper hit since Riddick: Butcher Bay in 2004.

I tried the demo. Everything was great except for the gun play...enemies soaked up way too many bullets.

Got this game for $30 from the-online-game-store-that-must-not-be-named, love it. Was really tempted at $50, had no choice at $30.

Question though: does the game keep track of how often you die at all?

When I played through GTA4, I was meticulous about making sure my saved games included no deaths and no failed missions. It wasn't that hard to do in that game. This game, however, it's very easy to find yourself in the middle of a small village with level 3 heat surrounded by soldiers pumping you with lead from automatic weapons, all while you're stuck in a QTE trying to hijack a helicopter. (Playing 2nd hardest difficulty BTW)

After a while of doing it like I used to in GTA4, I got tired of the travel time and now I just resume from autosaves. I can't find anywhere in the statistics where my deaths are recorded. Are there really no consequences for death in this game?

Don't think the game actively keeps track of how many times you die. I would recommend dropping one difficulty setting, as the game gets to a vein popping level of frustration as you progress through the main story (also playing on 2nd highest difficulty). I'm completely stuck at the mountain rescue agency mission because of the horrible autosave checkpoints and ridiculously deadly enemies. Must have attempted it 15 times by now.

I just snapped it up for $32 at newegg, shipped. I tried the demo out earlier, and really enjoyed it... played through the demo twice and wanted it not to end :). I turned on all settings to max except for that weirdly-named lighting thing, and ambient occlusion, 2560x1600 4x AA 16x AF (quality in nV panel) and it runs around 50fps during most gameplay with occasional dips. This is on my sig rig, GTX 470 @ 730c/1460s/3520ram. Just Cause 2 (PC) feels very polished.

It's pretty smooth and the gameplay is quite fun... I saw someone complaining about the controls but found them fine: you can't control the vehicles with your mouse because you can fire and pan the camera while riding/driving them.... the mouse aiming responded fine, no "input lag" someone had mentioned in a newegg review, etc. I loved the grappling hook, was zooming around while fighting and felt like playing a Spider-Man game with guns :D. It's great how you can do all kinds of stunt jumps, leap onto roofs of moving vehicles and shoot, etc. etc.

After the initial learning curve of getting used to the controls, Just Cause 2 is a technically brilliant game with fantastic, frenetic gameplay.. The game world is just immense and it boggles my mind at how much there is to explore! After playing Red Faction: Guerrilla for many hours it was a little difficult getting used to not being able to drive through and destroy every object or building, but it is an excellent game regardless of that. If they had implemented GEOMOD 2.0 into Just Cause 2, I would fill my pants.

I tried the demo. Everything was great except for the gun play...enemies soaked up way too many bullets.

Gotta use the aim mode and just go for the head. 1 shot with the heavier guns and 1-2 hits with submachine gun / pistol. I have 2022 kills right now with 959 headshots... and that's counting all the vehicle / explosive kills.

If you have a GTX280 or above or an ATi equiv, then i say get it for PC and use a 360 controller.

if you buy it for $32 from newegg is it possible to register it on steam for the achievements??

i'm guessing it's probably not but figured it's worth asking! it does look like a heck of a lot of fun

This.

I cannot enjoy any games where human enemies soak up bullets.

LOL! Some games are just meant to be gamey. This is one of them.

This game deliberately aims for 'over-the-top'. Do you object to people standing on the wings of airplanes that are hurtling through the sky as well? Or how about shooting a bunjee cord at a tree and then pulling open a parachute while you're still ascending - does that bother you too? Or what about jumping from the roof-top of one car onto the roof-top of another?

If you don't object to any of these things - but you do object to bullets being soaked up by the 'human enemies' then I seriously doubt that anybody here is even going to bother to argue with you... I'm now wondering why I'm even arguing the point myself? LOL!

You're over-thinking this, guy. Just Cause 2 isn't supposed to be Rainbow Six, you know.

It's different, being able to do over the top action things and enemies who take too many hits. It just feels wrong and annoying when you can pump guys full of lead and they don't die. It's like in Uncharted where guys wearing t-shirts in the jungle will shrug off AK-47 rounds.

If anything a game like this should make it more fun to kill people instead of frustrating. Make one or two bullets completely mess the guy up, blow off limbs, etc. and then compensate by throwing more and more guys at you for you to spray with your gun or run over with a truck which you then make explode, etc.

I tell ya. I didn't realize how spoiled I was by the freedom and craziness in this game until I fired up GTAIV yesterday with the DLC. I hadn't played GTAIV in at least 6 months if not longer and I was so lost not having the grappling hook and some of the other loose freedoms you have in Just Cause 2. JC2 really is an evolution forward on the entire sandbox concept.

A must buy title if you're even remotely a fan of the genre.

Pfft, I miss the grappling hook just walking down the street in RL.

At the very least let me jump on the roof of someone's car and get a ride that way!

Just Cause 2 registers through Steam as its DRM... I assume that it allows access to the achievements as well, since it's a SteamWorks game.

I didn't know at the time, how the game would run. Like I said RFG ran like crap (and looked like ass too). I downloaded the Demo from Steam. I played it for about 4 hours. It runs about 60-100fps on my machine with no issue. It actually runs so well that I didn't even notice I had V-sync turned on.:D

This will definitely be a payday purchase. Usually, console ports are crap. If the game runs like the demo, I will be fine.

By the way, the enemies don't soak up damage when you shoot them in the head and every one of them is wearing Kevlar. Besides, if they didn't live through a few shots then you couldn't have as much fun tethering them to cars and dragging them around.

Yea I'm hooked. I'm gonna have to make do with the demo until payday though. Wow, a game that's actually worth the money. It is $49.00 on Steam. I am wondering if the box version has steam for DRM or GFWL. I noticed that Steam Advertises that it has no GFWL requirement but is that only for the Steam version or the Retail too? I would pay an extra $10 to get it minus the stupid DRM schemes they are running these days.

I'm running a stock-clocked GTX260 and have everything maxed at 1680x1050 except for GPU Water Simulation and AA set at 2x. I'd say to get it on the PC unless you're running a GeForce 8600 equivalent or lower.

It's funny how game habits bleed over from game to game. When I started playing JC2, I was pressing the spot button from BC2 everytime I saw an enemy... after 20 hours of JC2, I started trying to grapple in BC2.

The grapple is honestly one of the funnest concepts in any game. I'm sort of torn between using KB/Mouse or a Xbox360 controller. The controller would be better for vehicles, but I like the KB/Mouse on foot... I thought about switching depending on the situation but it might be a little awkward when you're transitioning really fast / frequently.

So not worth it on, lets say a ps3 (even though my pc would handle it)?

As someone demonstrated earlier, the PC has some cool mods already. I personally love the all vehicles from blackmarket mod... it makes everything that much funner.

Got it for the ps3 and i am loving every minute.

The scale of this game is what make it so great, it is HUUUGE.

The story and characters are easily forgettable, but there's lots of missions to keep you busy.

Headshots: one bullet, one kill. Except bosses. And they are wearing BODY ARMOR, so it makes sense that they can take a few rounds to the torso. You can also shoot out their legs, and shoot out tires on pursuing vehicles to make them swerve off the road and crash.

This game is worth every penny.

Yup, I bought it for $30 from an online store. I got the box, pulled out the slip with the steam code, fired up steam and put in the code, and just let it download. The DVD has never left the box.

This just keeps getting better and better. I have perfected my skills in the demo. When I get this game I am going to rape. I have found my self actually trying to get a high heat level so I can use the helicopters for my personal gain.:D
