After browsign this forum for many hours, I have finnally put both my windows machines to folding for Team 33.

Laptop : 1.2 Ghz P3-M (Taulautin)
Desktop: 3.0 Ghz HT P4 (Prescott)

The laptop will run whenever it is at home, but the desktop can really only run occasionally due to high power consumption (I am resonsible for my own power for 6 more months)

One question about the client though, it's only screensaver is that which is in the menu, right? I do not want it to turn on a screensaver for any reason.

Welcome abroad...feel free to make yourself at home :)

As for your question, if you run the client as a service, it will run in the background and you will never see it outside of the Task Manager and Service.msc. I suggest getting EM3 if you want to moniter it (alot better than the graphical version of the client). I dont have a link to it but do a search of the forum and you are bond to get.

Again welcome, and watch for reach arounds :)

First, welcome.

Second, I would suggest you download the console version not the screensaver version.

Third, welcome again.

Welcome to the [H]orde! As far as, the screen saver cant help you there. I dont use one on my computer either. If Im not on-line my monitor is off and, I leave folding going 24/7.

Another Welcome ! You will find some great people here, you will be entertained, you will be irritated at times, you will have a great time while serving a great cause ... You will also probably have fun watching Mary :D .... The rest of us do ....

It is also a rule that you have to submit a picture to AtomicMoose, strictly for records. ;)

Welcome to the team, we're happy to have you. :)

I don't see you guys manning up, I figure I can get them before they know better. ;)

^^^^ Ah, nothing like the warm embrace of Duster's "Welcome n00b" special. ;)

Welcome to the team! Like the guys have already said, the screensaver client is kind of spacey at bets, the console is the way to go. If you need any help getting specifics on setting it up, take a look here and let us know if you need anything else. :D

Doh, that's the old sticky D!

well someone has to do it... It is like the welcome basket when you move in next door

Welcome.

Pull up a chair, have a scotch.

Empty your wallet, and fold for a cure, but alas, I repeat myself.

Anyone else around here spent way too much money on this habit? :D

any one sweating b/c of all the heat b0xen puts off??

i had to turn off my garden (2 of 3 machines) cuz the room they were in was too hot...even with a box fan in an open window through some cold nights.

I got the console version, but how do I go about configuring it? And where would I obtain EM3? If possible I would like the F@H client and all files it creates (aside from files that must be in a special location), in a single directory.

To configure the console version click Start > Run > Type "cmd" no quotes
now change directory to the location of the executible
Example

ENTER cd \
ENTER cd Folding

now run FAH504-Console -configonly

All files should reside in whatever directory you placed the FAH504-Console.exe file, and it will create a subfolder called "work"
If you do not run it as a system service no other files are created in any other location.

EMIII can be downloaded at http://home.comcast.net/~wxdude1/emsite/download.html

The client keeps all of the files and folders in a single location, the only thing that it writes anywhere else are a couple of entries into the registry. Just make sure you have the client where you want it before you go to configure it, otherwise you could end up with all the files somewhere you don't want them.

A good guide to configuring the client can be found here: http://www.hardfolding.com/index.php?go=4
