Jack Thompson Guilty on 27 Counts of Misconduct

I say he should be forced to play GTA4 on multiplayer as part of his community sentence.

Better late than never! Ill pop a few extra caps into some GTA hookers just for him tonight

I think an extended session of bastinado might be an appropriate punishment for Mr. Thompson, AFTER disbarment, of course. :p

Can this man still practice law in other states?
If so, I hope this is the first step towards him being disbarred everywhere.

I hope this man ends up as Saddam's personal bitch when he goes to hell.

This is a disbarment proceeding. There will not be any "sentance" per se. There will likely be disbarment and likely monitary fines

It's about time, he's clearly misused the legal system as a political lobbying platform. Many others have and continue to do so, but he's definately in the running as the most obviously blantant abuser of this type.

That and he violated a restraining order by attacking a person/company's family who had one against him.

You've never taken a close look at our US Congress. :D

I dont think so. There was a settlement where all communication would go through Take Two's legal department and he would cease all communication otherwise. The letter to the mother was delivered to the Take Two legal department

Hasn't he already been disbarred in at least one other state?

Well that's one crazy ass douch bag, Lord of the Sith, out of the way, hope he does some prison time for all the crap he's pulled, especially the falsifying evidence stuff...unfortunately I'm sure another Douch bag, crazy ass, spawn from hell, will take his place to rally his so called mission for justice.

Normally once your disbarred, you cannot practice law anywhere...unless he goes to another country and gains a law degree there, which is only good for that country.

Well that does it then, I'm going to convince the wife to vote Obama or Mcain then, since I can't vote being a lowly resident of the country.

Listen too all of you. Talking about how he should be raped, killed,...

You are proving him to be right (to some extent) in your actions.

Outamyhead, are you saying that you didn't know that Hillary and Jack where friends? I have been 100% against Hillary because of that from the start. She was part of the that whole Hot Coffee bull shit.

Oh I remember that episode, I forgot all about it until the rule of two comment...she better not get to be president or she'll pass more insane laws than what Bush has managed to push through.

No, if someone actually did any of those things then he would be right. All video game has made us do is spout worthless words about how we would like to do something to someone on the internet instead of actually doing anything about it.

Jacks biggest problem is that he still thinks he is relevant. Unfortunately, he will continue to get air time and press coverage because he still has entertainment value. I guess he is kinda like Geraldo Rivera. Nobody takes him seriously, but there he is, in the news, and on the screen.

Where is that TRON machine when you need it?:rolleyes::p

That would be an appropriate sentence.... Mr Jack, if you can make it to Liberty City hall by noon tommorrow, you will be set free, otherwise you will be doomed to live in Liberty city for the rest of eternity.

Since the story linked to today did not have comments I thought I would bring this story back up.

On the front page is a link to s article about Jack going to court today for a hearing.

It would appear that he walked out on the hearing.

http://kotaku.com/5013148/jack-thompson-walks-out-on-hearing-court-recommends-enhanced-disbarment

The Florida Bar asked for an "enhanced disbarment" in the disciplinary hearing of Jack Thompson, held earlier this afternoon. The recommendation means Thompson would be disbarred and prohibited for applying to practice law again for ten years, according to 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida spokesperson Eunice Sigler.

Thompson's sentencing hearing apparently ended in the attorney walking out of the courtroom after saying the judge did not have the authority to hear his case, a reader who sat in on the hearing told us.

I don't think Jack Thompson is a "bad man" persay, I just think he is a self absorbed jack ass.

He thinks that everything should be his way and his way only. You either agree with him or you are wrong and he will not let up till he proves this. If you don't like porn then fine, but his stance on it was off the wall. Same with games, and everything else he is against.

Up until now he hasn't so much as broken the law but has abused his power. There is a difference. There is no law that states a laywer can't have an opinion about stuff, they just aren't suppose to be as vocal about it or use their position as a lawyer to harrass companies or people over and over again. He was going to trial to see about disbarrment or some other type of punishment, not to be arrested. Had he been breaking the law he would have been arrested. But all he did was abuse his position and piss people off. Today's act of walking out of the court and acting like he was above them as the final straw in helping them make up their mind on his punishment. Before that he could have been disbarred, he could have just been fined and told to calm himself. But his childlish actions, while not illegal, are very unbecomming for a person in his position. Thus they decided on wanting to give him the stricter of the punishments.

Wait what? The executive branch can't pen legislation...

A President can write a law; he just needs a member of congress to submit it to congress. How many members of his own party members would refuse?

writing and passing into law are two VERY different things.
go back to civics class.

He said that the executive branch couldn't pen legislation, they can. I didn't say anything about passing it. Learn to read.

How long until they actually sentence Thompson?
