Hi guys,

It has come time for me to update my rig (in sig) I've been trolling around a bit but I really need advice.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primarily Gaming (SWTOR, BF3,)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Hard cap $1000 CAD taxed and Shipped, but would like to spend less if possible.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Toronto, Canada, I prefer newegg.ca
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, MB, SSD, Ram, CPU Cooler (Air)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I'll be reusing my case, monitor, mouse/keyboard, 2TB Samsung F4 HDD.
I would also like to reuse the EVGA GTX560Ti, and the Corsair HX520 PSU if they can work.
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
22in 1680x1050
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
would like to start the build right away, but there is no rush
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Z77, USB 3.0, SATA 6GB's
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Notes:

I'm thinking Ivy as I don't get to upgrade that often, and it is the latest/greatest, but should I consider SB?

I'd like to go with 16gb of RAM, I know 8gb would be fine but with ram prices as they are I think the investment is worth it.

Can my current PSU handle a new rig?

If I want to use the SSD for OS and Primary games, should I get 2?

Thanks in advace for your help, you guys have never steered me wrong ;p

I'd consider SB if the price difference between the 2500K and the 3570K is $40 to $50.

Definitely. Just make sure that the RAM is rated at 1.5V and speed around DDR3 1333 and DDR3 1600 and you'll be fine. Timings don't matter.

Yes

If you want to keep them seperate, go for it. But a single SSD will be fine. I recommend the Crucial M4, Samsung 830, Intel 520, or Plextor M3 series SSDs.

Really can't help you with the motherboard since you left question 9 blank.

HSF wise, go for the Coolermaster Hyper 212+

Alright here goes:

$210 AR 3570k
$35 Cooler Master Hyper 212+
$170 GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H
$90 G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 16gb (4x4)
$155 Crucial M4 128GB SSD
$0 EVGA GTX560Ti
$0 Samsung F4 HD204UI 2TB
$0 Corsair HX520
-----
Subtotal $660
Taxes ~$90
Shipping ~$20
-----
$770 Shipped

I do have a bit of room left in the budget.
considering this MB instead:
$240 ASUS Z77 Sabertooth

Would bring it up to $850 Shipped. I've been a fan of ASUS since my old Abit board ate it. Is it worth the extra $80?
Also I edited MB requirements.

Thanks

No. Not worth the $80 extra for two reasons:
1) Your answer to question 9 doesn't show any reason to get that mobo
2) Asus' customer support has been going down the drain lately so that makes me hesistant in recommending Asus motherboads.

How does the rest look? I'm ready to pull the trigger just want too make sure i havent overlooked anything.

With so much room left out of your $1000 budget, the only thing I would recommend is maybe going with a 256GB SSD, or get both the 128 and the 256.

Other than that, everything looks great.

Ended up grabbing a 256GB SSD instead
$240

Thanks for all your help guys.

ps. am I the only one who instictually reads SSD as Super Star Destroyer...
