My computer takes that job.

Thats the point. I have a 2500+, 1700+, and P4 1.5 that sit idle during the summer. During the winter though, they are strategically placed to keep my room toasty.

yea....its getting down to perfect weather here....sunny and highs in the 80's :)

I was going to try and heat the shop just w/ boxen this year, it's already cold in here. I have failed.

Oldbenwa come warm me up!

Mmmmhmmm... only a little bit creepy.

Ah still nice and cool outside, haven't dipped below 65 degrees.

So what has marty9876 going to dress up for Halloween?

ya i can tell winter is coming, think it dropped below 90 yesterday!

and its still ~100 in my computer room... nothing lots of loud fast fans cant fix... although i now have to have one of those little ear-plug dispensers next to the door

Ah, cooler weather. I now open a few windows in the house and set up a fan to draw air in one window and out another. It's disturbingly like setting up airflow in a computer...

But I love waking up to a house that's 10 degrees cooler than the thermostat setting!

Weird, it started snowing here in Ohio a few minutes ago, too. :D

zomg time to overclock! :p

It rained here recently (hey, I don't know what day it is, let alone what it was...). No snow as yet.

When winter comes, I'm gonna crank up the boxen a bit. The A/C at school is actually pretty good, but my roommates complain because their half of the suite is freezing cold while our side is comfortable :p One of these days I'll put the quad Xeon under the bed so it's quiet enough to tolerate while it's on, and fire it up :D

OK, where the hell are you people that it's snowing already???

It got down below 32 the other night here, but not white stuff yet.

m jealous of those of you seeing snow....MD hardly gets it, but when we do, it's nice

It snowed in Colorado Springs on Monday night/Tuesday morning. It was all gone by the afternoon.

I'm in IL, about an hour west of Chicago. The entire NE corner of the state got hammered with snow today. The drive to school was pretty brutal... I couldn't see five feet in front of me.

No snow here yet, but a frost warning for early morning, and nice mid 60's temps during the day.

36F at 9 am. No snow. But plenty cold. Need more boxen. Had to turn on the house's normal heating unit. Not enough boxen to heat the house.

its around 32 right now, but it's windy as hell, i'd guess 20mph winds. So.. going outside, it feels about 5 degrees.

Sounds like you just found a great excuse to go buy more boxen! :D

2 feet of snow yesterday, not 200 miles west. Almost here!!!!

:D:D Excited for the OC/WC possibilities! :)

i like how its under distributed computing

somehow this will let us fold 10X better

See MrWizard6600, snow will let us fold better. Some people can't run all their computers in the summer, so once it snows and it cools down then they can turn on those extra computers, and thus we get more production. --- Maybe not 10x :) but it will be something. That difference used to be what turned the tide between OCAU and ourselves. When they went to winter and we went to summer positions would switch.

It was strategically placed. In the summer, I turn off three boxen. They fold, which ups the power bill, and make heat, which make me turn the AC higher, which ups the power bill even more. Not worth it to run them.

However, in the winter, they make heat, allowing me to keep the heating lower, and cost evens itself out. Also, the cold usually allows for some higher OC's. Hence, production goes up. Because of that, snow has everything in the world to do with DCing :)

I couldn't agree more. My bedroom is hell during the summer. Whenever my fiance would come over I would shut down folding cause it would be too warm in there if the door was closed. Now, leaving the window open an inch keeps my room nice and comfy, and my overall temps in the case have come down, which means my computer gets even quieter as i turn down the fans even more. Winter=lower temps and more silence for my folding, which makes me happy.
