It's here!! DFI Infinity P965-S

If you want one now, http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop...110030005019_BL93754P.shtml&order_id=!ORDERID!
Not sure how much cheaper they'd be at launch, but I think it would be unreasonable to expect $183. Remember how far from msrp the e4300 was at launch.

Quite a good price if you ask me, since as it is, it's cheaper than the e6400.

Also, newegg is now OOS again. It's been bouncing all over the place. Looks like newegg underestimated people's interest in this. If they had known, they should have started it at $200 for a week. I'm sure they would have still easily sold out at the rate they are now. DFI could easily make a commando-esque model and sell it at that price.

Holy shit there sold out! I was just about to order! Dammit! I wouldnt be surprised if the price went up. Oh well, I'm on auto-notify for this board and the buffalo fire-stix now..Thansk for the heads up.

I was going to get the Firestix but since they're OOS now I just went with the G. Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ instead. I think the G. Skill will overclock as well or better. The next time the Firestix come in stock they may be Elpida chips instead.

The g.skill should be better anyways.

Hmm, when the inventory system was up, it showed around 200 in stock, with a bunch becoming in stock tomorrow. I believe they do drop shipping with ingram, so they probably would be getting inventory in tomorrow.

I keep hearing that the newer firestix are not D9, so I may end up going with the Gskill as I've heard good things about them.

I wouldn't worry about naysayers too much until someone posts inability to do 500 cas4 2.2-2.4v, or until someone proves it with naked pics. But that said, gskill is in stock and not much more expensive at all, and probably higher bin since they're starting at 400cl4.

Please don't come w/ only 2 lame red SATA cables Mr. DFI DARK. I know it's value oriented, so it's not the end of the world. Unfortunately, ordering black SATA cables for my 5 drives did not dawn on me last order cycle...more time to wait. :(

On the +, it seems more of us are ordering the G.Skill HZ. Perhaps we'll throw down results for DFI + G.Skill here to motivate. :D

Thinking whether or not to sell off my ICFX for this...

The LanParty takes too much tweaking to get it remotely stable at high bus speeds, and I keep getting these random reboot cycles where it refuses to work at anything above stock. :(

yo, if I were to do a hardcore board, I would too. I'm so glad it has parallel and serial. I've got 4 printers to hook up and need serial to flash different things.

Eh, I wish they'd of gotten rid of the parallel and serial in favor something more useful in this day and age lol. I suppose they left them on there since this is an Infinity board and priced more in the budget area where a lot of average people with older hardware like printers and serial devices might make use of it. I'd rather have more USB ports or something myself :D.

As soon as this thing comes back, its mine! Im tempted to pull the trigger on a 6420 from blt as well....

A little off topic but?..... When do you think newegg will stock the e6420?

I wonder how much I can sell mine for @ Ebay....LOL I'm still tossing between this one and the one on my back up rig. I'll play with it this weekend to see what I get from it.

Well i heard that there was on old batch that made its way into microcenter but if you buy from newegg i think you will be fine.

At this point I wouldn't order a processor until the Intel price cutts towards the end of this month. The 22nd is suppost to be the date.

I couldn't wait so I just bought myself e6420. I don't know that the e6420 will really be that cheap right away or it will take a week or two for the price to lower. All I need to do now if find this motherboard somewhere and I will be set :)

LOL, im in the same mindset as you! I know if I wait it will come down in price, but hell its hard to resist. Patience is key here...I've just been putting off the build for so long, I'm ready for some gaming!

I would watch eWiz to get more stock possibly. Newegg will likely sell out pretty fast if they get any more.

seriously looking forward to some reviews with comparisons.

oh I thought he was talking about the e6420...the past couple posts have been about it.

who has this thing in stock at the moment?

No one it sucks the company said I might get lucky and they might have shipment in by the the end of next week that they will send out if not April 30th. The only place that might have it is this http://www.saveateagle.com/mb-i-p965s-v34.html?c=ns But who knows if they really have it in stock plus its $40 more + shipping.

I think I'm just going to buy the ASUS P5B Deluxe since the rest of my computer will be here on tuesday I don't think I can wait any longer

fuck me, and to think I saw it in stock and thought... it's gonna be sold it real quick... but I decided to "research" it some more... dumbass move.

Researching is not dumb... We still dont really know if there are going to be any wierd bugs with it. But damn, i know how you feel. I want one of these too.

haha dude, it can't be worse than my DS3, haha.

I'm sure they've been mentioned, but there's a couple threads @ XS and some good info @ DFICLUB too. So far, it's def a quirky board, but it's been good times so far. I'm on the latest bios w/ what you see in sig...on the old P5B Winstall. :D Hey, at least we can keep our arrays through boards if they use same ICH8R, right?

Ok, time to get back to OC, hehe.

Click me for a few pics. My "can't boot to intel rom bios w/ sata optical" issue's been resolved on 4-11 bios.

Ive never had so many issues before deciding on a mobo. I think I am between this infinity, the Abit quadgt, and the Gigabyte DS3. Bleh... Any sites have this in stock yet?

If you decide on a DS3 your statement will change to "I've never had so many issues before with a motherboard"

see my "E6600 woes" thread for questions.

Do you guys think the P965-S offers any real advantages over an Asus P5B-Deluxe or an Abit QuadGT for a moderate overclocker? I'm getting so antsy to upgrade and not sure which board I want, or if waiting for this board is worth it or not.

Still the dfi infinity p965-s. They say with the memory features on fast, it's about the same as i975x.

Can you define what moderate means? If it means all values close to stock.

But also, it can be say 500x6=ghz. :)

By moderate I guess I mean I'm probably not going to bump up voltages real high, and will err on the side of stability vs speed. But, I'm definitely looking to tweak it up a bit. I've been running my S939 A64 Winchester core with a decent but not tremendous overclock the past couple years with good results. I get a taste of the OC'ing thrill but without a big risk of frying components I guess is my goal. :D

I will eventually install my water cooling stuff on the new system so I can overclock better but that is also for fun, quiet and cool running as much as upping my overclocks, and I will be happy if I can get in the low 3.x GHz ballpark with an E6600 & probably 2GB of G Skill HZ. I know with some of the newer chips it might be harder to get real great overclocks as well.

So, you think the P965-S is definitely worth waiting for over the others? I might have to find something to distract me for a week or two before I can get my hands on one.

In your situation, you could just go with a DS3 if your not going to go crazy with your OC. You may in fact, prefer it to the DFI, because of the ease of setup and OC.

But it's soooo ugly! Just finished putting together a silent rig for my bro w/ the G DS3. The board's making me nauseous w/ it's use of EVERY color randomly thrown about. :( Be covering that up soon...
