i don't like this mouse at all. the wheel has a metallic finish making it slippery and it tends to over rotate making scrolling webpages hard to stop.

I really wanted to love this mouse, but I had the same experience.

The DPI changer button on the thumb rest was immensely annoying too, despite disabling the key mapping for it.

In case you don't already know- you can click the button below the mouse wheel to switch between clicky and freewheel.

I do agree that the metallic mousewheel is not as grippy as I would like.

The new wireless one has a rubber coated metal wheel. It’s $150 for it so I’ll wait til it’s $50 but it’s something.

I'm using one that is about 3 years old my only problem with it the side buttons are alien like I wish they were smooth Logitech should consider updating this thing. I know they changed the weight system in the Hero wireles version but not the side buttons.

I just got one last month, have been enjoying it, like the wheel, buy in freespin is really gets going, and sometimes moving the mouse around will cause the wheelspin to accelerate. I always use the click feature when gaming. G5 Middle mouse button was a nightmare or me because of the sensitivity, this mouse cures it.

I've actually got two of these mice around the house and love them, a very worth successor to my old G5. It's pretty tempting to order another one at that price but my two most used rigs already have one sooo....

the g502 can't hold a candle to the the legendary mx 518, at least based on my experience. the best move logitech ever made was bringing that mouse back into service.

I don't really get the G502 popularity. It's shape is very nice, but it's too small (and I don't have big hands), and it's too heavy, and its weight isn't evenly distributed from front to back. I find the G402 a much nicer mouse because of its weight and weight distribution, though still on the small side.

Probably hand shape. I have the G502 and the MX518 and I prefer the G502. Both I find better than the G5/G500 though.

It's a little shocking, but sometimes just sometimes one doesn't fit the common mold but it doesn't mean something they don't like shouldn't be considered popular. :) I'm not a fan of the g502 but mine wasn't comfort, but the fact I had 2 that had bad sensors. It was comfortable as all get out for me. At $35 I did order one again hoping the third time is the charm. I was a huge 518 fan, and I absolutely adore my g700s. Just gonna try the proteus again and hope it works.

That mouse just looks annoying :(
Not looking forward to the day when my G303 stops working. I've already resurfaced it once to keep it alive since eventually the rubberized coating wore off. Other mice just aren't the same..

I'm just the opposite, it's one of if not my favorite mouse I've ever owned. For me, it's sized right, I tossed in all the optional weights because I like a heavy mouse, and the buttons are pretty darn good (placement, clickability, good balance of usefulness unlike some mice that have a freaking num pad on the side).

I've been rocking one of these for the last 2-3 years, forget when I ordered it, it was to finally replace my G5, but all in all guys, is this not a great pickup at 35 bucks?

Love the shape, love the feel (I'm honestly OK with the wheel, I use it for jump in some games like CS GO, takes a deliberate motion for it to register, which I like, plus, you shouldn't be scrolling through weapons in games ;)), I claw grip so the weight doesn't bother me (trial and error with the weights got it feeling nice for me, I'd agree default feels heavy in the rear instead of the middle). Overall I'd give it a 8/10.

My only complaint about it is the location of the DPS up/down, idk how many times I've been bitten in FPS's by my DPI suddenly increasing semi-substantially, especially in low-sens games.... I'm looking at you CS:GO/NS2 marine side. That being said though, I like a higher sense on the Alien side of things so DPI switching is easy between games, but it's in a too convenient of a location, allows for easy misclicks.

I'd pick up another just to have at 35 bucks, no questions asked.

The mx518 back then is not the same as the mx518 now besides form and looks. so they didnt bring it back in more than a marketing sense.
