Is this possible?

I'm in the process of building a new system, with brand new Z-5500 speakers. And at the same time I needed to figure out to do with the old speakers I had. They weren't terrible, but based on what I've read recently about the 5500s I'm thinking I made a pretty damn good choice.

Anyway. I've decided instead of throwing them away I'm going to hook my old speakers up to my TV and use them for "quasi surround sound",

The old speakers are Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 500W RMS Speakers, My TV is a 27Inch Sharp. I have a comcase DVR unit also... How much difficulty am I going to run into trying to hook these speakers up to this TV?

Any other words of wisdom you could offer?

Thanks,
Shhhh

Umm, if you have a receiver with 5.1 support, it shouldn't be too hard (although I'm not saying it'd be worth it to get all the adapters and/or cutting all the wires). If you've just got the DVR and TV, first of all, without a DVD player, you're probably not going to get much interesting out of the center/rear speakers anyway.

Personally, I'd try selling the Klipsch's to fund the beginnings of a nice, regular, receiver-based home theater system. Just me, though.

Not a bad thought.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised that you're changing speakers, as those Klipsch are supposed to be pretty nice, with some people adamant that they would sound better than the Z-5500s.

If its just TV, I would say its probably not worth it to get a reciever and hook up the Klipsch to it (I'm not terribly certain if you could get the sub to work properly either).
