I have a pc power and cooling 500w and I am planning to do an i7 buildup.
I've got a c0 920 and 12 gb of ddr3
also 2 seagate 7200.11s
Single optical drive and I was hoping to get an Nvidia 270 with an eye towards adding a second one down the line.
...This little PSU falls short doesn't it?

Not enough for even a single GTX 275, let alone two. Bare minimum I'd recommend for that kind of setup is a PSU with at least 40A on the +12V rail. The PC P&C 500W only has 35A on the +12V rail. For two GTX 275, I recommend a PSU with at least 50A on the +12V rail.

For the crossfire setup you have in mind, I'd suggest a Corsair TX850.

Thanks for the informative and non-snarky responses. Seriously, I appreciate it.
I've been looking at the CUDA stuff lately, and I'm liking the idea of using multiple GPU's for encoding and folding.
Safe bet then that I'll need 1000+ for 3 270s with the ASROCK supercomputer board?
Also, manufacturers: seems like Silverstone is the current tops of the pops? PP&C seems to have fallen by the wayside a bit since OCZ acquired them. Lots of complaints, particularly with the 750.

No...not really. They aren't better than some of the others out there.

They certainly have many good to excellent power supplies.

Antec, Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic and Enermax do also.

Antec has some lower quality units, but much of their stuff is good. Thermaltake and Coolermaster have some good high end stuff, and some absolute junk on the low end stuff.

BFG is starting to put out some decent stuff too.
