Took a screen shot of my cpuz, please take a look at the core speed and the multiplier. If this is incorrect please tell me how to fix this! And my farcry 2 is running really low.

Your CPU speed is a little more than half of what it should be. A quick google says that the rated bus speed of this chip is 800mhz and the core clock is 2.2ghz. Your motherboard bios should have the settings needed to make the adjustments so everything runs at its rated speed.
 
That's just Speedstep in action. Run a CPU intensive app or game and your E4500 will clock right back up to 2.2Ghz. No need to adjust anything for the CPU.
 
Your CPu and GPU isn't going to be running FC2 at anything near high settings and high resolution if that's what you're doing.

Get a good aftermarket cooler on that CPU and overclock the piss out of it. Then, get a good aftermarket cooler on the GPU and overclock the piss out of that. Then, just maybe, you'll be able to run Farcry 2 at medium/high settings @ 1280x1024. Maybe. I stress "Maybe".

ha, well this pc ran crysis very well, and in my opinion i thought crysis has better graphics than far cry...
 
yea i think the 8800GT runs better low on 1280x1024, but my proscessor probably just cant keep up with the physics of farcry.. and when theres smoke frame rates go down alot!
 
ummm, I run farcry 2 @ 2xaa, all medium w/ very high shaders at 30fps w/ the rig in my sig...you should be blowing me away.

EDIT: make sure to overclock that chip! I recently upgraded from a 2.8 Ghz processor to my current overclocked P4 at 3.68 and I gained 9 avg FPS in farcry 2 even after bumping all my settings up. This game LOVES CPU speed and multiple cores!

You'd think it would not be necessary on the [H]ardForum, but perhaps there should be a sticky here at the top of the Intel Processors section that says "Why is my Intel processor's clock speed lower than is should be?"

Of course, *everyone* is a noob at some point. It's just that this question gets asked on almost a daily basis...

yea i want to overclock it but have trouble finding a cooler that will fit with my ip35-e, arctic freezer 7 wont fit on the mobo.

this is my first dual core intel chip, was more of an amd guy and i didnt see cpu throttling on them :O

Sure you did, it's called "Cool'n'Quiet". Intel calls it "SpeedStep"
 
Try changing your sig to match your current setup. This would help us, help you. :)
What kinda mobo is that C2D sitting on? OC options? As many have stated, the Base 2.2Ghz on that C2D is only gonna go so far. Get that thing to something like 3Ghz+ and it should run great.

going to update my sig right now, tell me what you think. Its on stock cooling so yea.
