Here is the setup:

E6300 at 3.2Ghz
Gigabyte 965P-DS3
2GB DDR2 800
1x 250GB HD, 1x 500GB HD
8800GTS 512MB

Just curious on peoples thoughts here. I was recently told my computer is midrange, but I'm not sure I agree with that assessment. I can't buy a faster stock processor for gaming and it is only a few percent from the fastest single GPU video card you can buy. If this is midrange, what makes a system high end? Does it require two video cards? A quad core processor that only one game can make use of? Just curious.

Maybe only if you compare it to the killer machines here on [H]ard.

Out of the machines of the common user or even the common gamer, i would consider it high end, hell its better than mine. What does the person have in their computer that told you it was midrange?

there isnt enough difference between your setup and the best single card setup to call it midrange. It's high end for sure.

Not bleeding edge, but not midrange either.

I'd expect to see a stock C2D E4x00 or Athlon X2 4x00+ and a GF 8600 or HD2600 combo out of a midrange system.
