Hi im going to build a medium high end gaming computer, I will be using it for hardcore gaming (crysis, crysiswarhead, crysis2, cod black ops, just cuase2, Aion, etc). and i was just wanting some feedback before I built this computer making sure that everything would work together as in comparability issues. This is my first build so im not 100% sure that all this will work together but i do know for the most part how to build a computer just wanted to double check it,also im going to put the system into eyefinity eventually so i need a graphics card with eyefinity ,nvidia doesnt work out for me atm =p. positive feedback is greatly appreciated. The links used below are only for reference use for more specific information. Lastly my price range for a computer is under $1,000 ,1.1k max

Wintec is not on the list for supported memory, so it might not work.

Also, I wouldn't use an Apevia power supply even if you gave it to me for free (let alone actually pay for it).

Why buy a Spinpoint F3 when you can get an F4?

so apevia psu are bad?? and what is better about f4 as compared to f3?? and the suggestions you make would they raise the price of my build? idk of any better psu if you could suggest some for around the same price i would appreciate it a ton

im not really looking for alternatives to things that work already unless its like the psu where their not good quality , but the antec 902 is fine and so is the processor and stuff like that unless something doesnt work with something else

Yes, apevia psu's are bad. Well, like I said, I wouldn't use it even if it was free.

I'd suggest the Antec True Power 550 for $55 after MIR:

Sorry about the F4 comment. It looks like the F4's are only offered in 320GB or 2TB, and there is still a viable market for the 1 TB F3 drives.

As for memory, I'd pick a pair of Gskill DDR3 from the supported list.

Oh, and I'd second the CM Hyper 212 HSF. But I haven't read about that zalman yet.

I'd choose a GTX 460 1GB over the 5830, but you also need to consider the 6850. There's alot of arguments about the benefits of each, so you need to read some more on it. It depends on the games you're going to play, if you Fold, power consumption, eyefinity, crossfire/SLI potential down the road, etc.

I prefer my CM 690 over the Antec 900. Not sure about the differences between the 902 and the CM690 II.

Lets not forget about the fact that a 5830 at 175 bucks is a horrible buy when you can get a 6850 for just a few dollars more..

ANd as mentioned above.. Answer the questions int he sticky at the top of the forum

ah ty for the info , how ever on the heatsink you suggested i looked at it earlier also but im afraid it wont fit in my case o_o lol looks kinda idk bulky lol and im not very good with mounting bracket types for the heatsinks i figured the manual would probably tell me when i got it XD and the reason i didn't go with nvidia on the graphics card is because im going to be putting it into eyefinity when i get more screens so i cant go with nvidia unless i want spend an extra $300 on tripplehead2go also i took ur suggestion i changed the ram to x2 2GB G.Skill =p now i just need to find a good psu thats not too expensive =s ty for all the help

wow o_o ur right ty for that suggestion i think ill do that btw how do you connect a word to a link instead of putting the link itself like when i click on 6850 it took me to the link

Use the insert hyperlink icon. It's the picture of the world with a paperclip or chain.

Also, learn how to use the period key. I felt like I was running out of breath when I read your post.

lol ill try to keep that in mind, ive gotten lazy thx to instant messenger lol. Also thx for telling me about the insert link thing. =p

kk ill keep that in mind ty for the feedback i was kinda worried about the ram when somone said it wasnt "on the list" =p but i think G.Skill was a good choice

if i was you i would not order that zalman heatsink. its not a very good cooler. the hyper 212 is really kick butt cooler and is very hard to touch at 30 bucks

it will fit in an antec 902 case but i think in all honesty the cooler master I link above is a better case and is alot cheaper.

it is alot cheaper but im a neat freak lol i hate dust so the antec 902 fits me great it has lil dust grills in the front =D also ur 100% sure that the hyper 212 would fit in the antec 902???

I have been running the zalmann on my phenom2 x4 920 for over a year now and it is a mighty fine cooler, under load the cpu never goes above 115f and is pretty quiet as well.

But the Antec 902 is still a rather cramped case to work with and is very overpriced.
so apevia psu are bad?? UOTE]

Apevia PSUs are pieces of shit. You might as throw your PC over a freeway or run it over with your car or just throw it into a pool if you're gonna buy an Apevia. My proof:
Apevia ATX-AS500W-BL
Apevia Warlock Power 900W
XQPack's Included 420W PSU
Aspire Beast 680W Power Supply

Go for the Corsair 650TX as the minimum PSU you should get. Yes it costs nearly twice as much but it's 100 times better than the Apevia. I don't factor in rebates so that TP-550 is still rather expensive for what you get.

Post a final build list when you've made the changes for us to look over.

Answer the questions in the "Asking for Build Help?" sticky. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST. In order to come up with recommendations that will give you the best performance for the lowest costs, we need to know what you need, how much you can spend, and a few other things.

I can tell you right now that for a "hardcore gamer," your build wouldn't cut the mustard. But rather than submitting 50 posts just to figure out what you really need and want, why don't you help us out and answer the damn questions?

"Will it work"? As In will it turn on when you push the power button after you build it? Yes, those parts should, assuming you build it correctly. To increase your chances of it working I would recommend against doing a dance on the carpet in your fuzzy slippers right before you build, then plug in the power supply, then connect it to the motherboard, resume to install the rest of the parts.

I read the sticky it doesn't fit what im asking im just asking about comparability issues im not asking anyone to build me a computer im not even really asking for suggestions even tho they are greatly appreciated im just asking if for the most part the computer would work with the parts i have chosen the sticky doesnt apply because im not asking for anyone to metaphorically build me a computer ive already chosen the parts unless they wont work with another part. But i will post my budget in the thread.

i cant find anywhere the performance difference. Compared to a 5850 it seems both are just a tad slower, so i imagine there about the same performance?

Ok then here is your answer and good luck with your build. all the parts will work together.

You have answered questions 1, 2, 4, 5, and 10. But the rest of those questions still apply:
- Question 3 lets us know if you live near a Microcenter or a Fry's and therefore can take advantage of the deals those stores have thereby saving YOU money. Plus we do get a lot of non-American posters asking for help in this forum. This lets

- Question 6 lets us know if you're overclocking. Which means that we may recommend a different motherboard as well different HSF if that's the case

- Questions 7 lets us figure what is the right video card for your monitor. Remember that monitor resolution dictates video card choice. We don't know if your video card is complete and utter overkill for your monitor or just borderline low settings.

- Question 8 lets us figure out if the parts you're buying will still be good choices for the money when you actually buy the PC. Remember that in the PC world, parts suggestions can change in as little as a month. So basically, parts that we recommend today may not be the same parts we recommend in December, January, etc.

Not to mention that if you're buying from Newegg, letting us know when you're buying the PC will tell us if you can take advantage of Newegg's combo deals to save additional money.

- Question 9 lets us figure out if the mobo fits your needs and wants

So how do those questions not apply? Those questions gives us a rubric for us to judge your PC selection.

I appreciate your concern and I will take it into account next time I post a thread but at the moment my question has been answered , thx to everyone of the forum for their help.

You imagine wrong. The 6850 is very close in performance to a 5850 where a 5830 is a fair amount behind (right about half way between a 5770 & a 5850). The 5830 has never really been a great buy. & at this point nothing in the 58x0 series is a really good buy considering the 68x0 series cost/performance ratio.

Also as for the sticky & its questions.. Its standard practice here to do it & it makes it easier for everyone to help. So at this point there has been more time wasted by you reading all of us asking you to do it then it would have been for you to have just done the damn thing in the 1st place..

Wait one moment....

... You're building a "hardcore gaming" machine around an HD 5830? What resolution are you using for gaming? Which monitor(s) are you using?
