500GB 16MB Cache 7200.11 SATA2 HDD

* 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1066
Why not 4GB (2 x 2GB)? G.Skill is just as good as Corsair, and less expensive.

* 500GB 16MB Cache 7200.11 SATA2 HDD
The 640GB WD Caviar SE 16 is a better choice, since it's as fast as the 150GB Raptor.

* OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W
Isn't this the brand with the ripple problem at high loads? You're better off with a Corsair PSU.

* HD3870 (will be Crossfire soon)
One HD 4850 (or HD 4870) would be better than CrossFired HD 3870's

Before I critique/rip this build in half, how much did you pay for that PC?

I paid like $700 or so.

@ AndonSage:

Why are you such a dick?

1.) I can't afford a 64-bit OS, and I paid $40.
2.) I paid $60 for it.
3.) No I own another one of these and it works great.
4.) I paid $110 for it, not $200.

Jerk.

Jerk.

He was critiquing your build, just like you asked. He probably assumed that you paid full price for all those parts. No need for name-calling. If you had paid full price for those parts, I would've made many of the same criticisms.

And yes, that StealthXStream is based off the FSP Episilon PSU design which has out of spec ripple, or voltage fluctuations, at high loads that can damage or kill your system. Granted, you may not reach such high loads but why pay for a PSU that can kill your system?

However since you already bought the PSU, just make sure that your PSU needs doesn't exceed 500W and you'll be fine.

He wasn't being a dick... you asked for your build to be critiqued, and he critiqued it. I read over his post multiple times and he wasn't a jerk about it at all. He was saying that if you were buying NEW, for comparable prices you could have what he listed. I guess because you had ALREADY bought the parts, then yeah, but were you really coming here for a critique or were you wanting everyone to praise your build?

Looks like a decent build, and if you got a good deal on the parts than it's all worth it.

Why would you ask after you ordered the parts anyway ?
This has to be one of the dumbest threads I've seen asking if this is a good build!
It doesn't matter now, it's too late. Maybe I'm missing a point here or something.

should list the price for each parts. i recently priced together a complete quad core (Q6600) system for my friend, with 4870, 750 watt psu, 640gb harddrive, for about 910 (not including shipping or o/s). still not bad for 700 but u shoulda sniped some more ;) :p lol
