Hi. I'm wondering if there is such thing as a program that can take an image of a CD or DVD and create an EXE to burn the image. I often end up sending CDs out to my clients for various things, and often they don't understand what images are, and it is very time consuming.

Does anyone know if there is such a program?
 
Refer them to Iso Recorder. It's free, and works on all Windows XP or newer OSes. CD recording is too machine-dependent to have a small general-purpose tool to do it with.
 
i never heard of it but why don't you just burn the iso image to a cd for them?

Because that requires mailing. Exactly the thing I am trying to avoid. I think once someone comes up with a program to do this, it should be a pretty big hit.

sounds like you want something like a self-extracting zip, but for isos huh?
 
I use iso buster, what it does is it opens up iso files so that you can then extract to a dir/folder and normally within the iso is a setup.exe file, so when I install games or programs that were isos I normally just extract the original iso to a new dir then click on the setup.exe and bobs your uncle :)
 
How are you going to get the file to them? not by email I hope !



If your sending out large amounts of files, why not just rent some web space, then send links to the downloads to your clients.
If they are smart enough to run .EXE, then can download the file, then run it
 
I do appreciate your suggestions, but essentially my clients need a CD. Many of these people live in europe and mailing can cost a ton of time and money. And to any one who said anything about "if my clients are smart", the thing is, almost none of them are smart with computers at all.

Someone also mentioned this being a fairly difficult task. I would beg to differ. There are programs less than 600K with the ability to read ISOs, detect burners and their settings, and burn.

I think this program could probably be even smaller. In fact, I'm going to see if I can't make it myself. C++ would probably be best, anyone agree?

So use one of those. Where's the problem? ISO recorder, which I linked above, is 360 KB and associates itself with ISO files. Double-click one, and the dialog starts to burn it to a CD. I think this would suit your purpose nicely.
