Is Ryzen stable?

Wow, the replies stacked up so much that i didnt even get to read them all before buying. Thanks for all the input. Trading will be done manually. Mainly, I was going for a fast system in every sense (mouse, screens, cpu, etc). I actually dialed down the GPUs. Everything is as listed originally for the ryzen system, only with 2x RX570's instead of 580s. I may replace these with vega, or i may not. They are running all six monitors just fine.


I was reading some of the posts about going intel. I honestly think i may have made the wrong decision from that standpoint. I know my trading software isn't utilizing all the cores, and may not ever. I am running some things in the background, and multiple platforms, but even still, my cores sit idle. I probably would have been better off with an i7-7700k in this case. however, the ryzen has been very stable and certainly works for my purpose... the good part is i will never know if the 7700k would have been faster because i dont have it lol. I think i also should have taken the advice on the ram

Asus ROG Crosshair IV Hero
Ryzen 1700x
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16x2 DDR 3000
Samsung 960 Evo 250gb
2x Powercolor Radeon RX570
Corsair H100i v2 (oh that was a pain without the am4 bracket)
Corsair M65
Corsair K95 RGB Platinum
3x VIVO 2 monitor stands (vertical)
APC 1500VA

30 day return policy on all this stuff. If the ram turns out to be a huge pain, I may trade it out. The ram was one thing i overpaid for at $329
 
Looks like a solid system.

I went with
Gigabyte K7
1700 (oc's to 4.0 easily)
And some Gskill Samsung b dies.
Runs RAM at 3200 and is very stable.
 
The system is good. Even if your specific trading app isn't using all cores, that means you can have extra browsers or windows open without slowing down your system.

Intel may be more stable in some sense because the Core line is very mature, but the recent BIOS updates have made Ryzen much better than it was in the first few weeks. I don't think it's an issue now though, especially if you are not overclocking.

In terms of the memory, it defaults to 2133 regardless, and you'll have to go into BIOS if you want more. I think 2400 is probably safe, but it depends on the mobo and RAM if you can go higher or if it's worth the risk (as you said, you need rock solid).
 
i've messed around in the bios and it wont go any farther than 2393 or something. not gonna waste my time with it. Either i get different ram ( samsung) or i just use as is. Right now, its working fine. These monitors literally make the system. Amazing they are.

The ram is likely problematic. You should have gone for DDR4 3200 with timings osf CL14-14-14--34. Those are samsung b-die chips that will easily clock to 3200mhz.

How about the other approach , wait for the new bios to come out and that would fix things, go to the asus forums check if there some people using "your" ram and see what they did to get it working.
 
Also remeber he is using 2x16gb sticks which means DS memory, which means more issues for ryzen correct?
