Ok, I am in complete denial here and hoping for a miracle. The story goes like this, I got a 9800 Pro used, it has worked great for almost a month now. Day before yesterday I am on the machine all day working, turn it off about four to go to class, get back from class abount eleven thirty that night and turn it back on. Everything posts but just as the system is about to boot into the Windows welcome screen, the moniter light goes from green to amber, the machine reboots and I get a video post error. I restart a few times out of desperation and it comes back on just fine. The next morning when I fire it up to start work, get the video post errot beeps again. I can reseat the card and restart a few times and bring it online just long enough to post and when I hit Windows the cycle starts all over again. I am running a Athlon T-Bird 1.33 on an Epox mobo, the PSU is an Antec 300 watt. Oh yeah, I pulled off the HSF fan, cleaned up the goop and put on Arctic Silver 3. The previous owner had removed the HSF and replaced it with a custom job, the original was put back on when it was sold to me. I ordered a VGA Cooler in hopes that it was overheating and shutting down, still waiting for it to get here though. Again, any help would be greatly apreciated, I'm not sure what else to do to save it.
