I never said that so I am not going to bother responding/defending something I didn't say. Re-read what I posted.

The implication that wanting to change the negative impacts of capitalism and doing so means "destroying civilization" in swapping it out for (what is assumed to be a negative vision of) communism, heavily implies an inflexible reverence for capitalism and a black-and-white, good vs evil view of it. If this wasn't your intent, please explain your reaction otherwise.

All right, for the sake of argument, remove the sentence you quoted just now. What about my other points and question?

Just out of curiosity, why do you think that they're talking about burning down the entire system? For that matter, if you read the quotation it talks about oppression and capitalism - so if there are times when capitalism or elements are not oppressing people, then all is well. ? 99% of the entire quote doesn't even mention capitalism, so the idea that they want to "destroy civilization", much less all forms of capitalism, seems alarmist and untrue. By human development and happiness index, the most successful nations have economic systems that are hybrids where there are strong protections against the negatives of capitalism without giving up elements like private ownership or markets entirely. Even our current system in the US is a hybrid , though we lack the proper balance between privatized profit and the public good, so it would not require burning civilization to the ground to change.

Treating capitalism as some sort of exalted virtue or even "best we've got, don't question it" isn't helpful. As in my prior post, if people in the past did not fight and sometimes give their lives in the fight against the ills of capitalism, your life would be much different in a negative way. The fight isn't over either with elements such as regulatory capture and the new problems of globalism just to name a few.

They state in that section Capitalism as oppression, not that parts of it are, as if you read the whole thing, any system that has hierarchy or where some have more than others, IS oppression. As they want a world where everything is shared equally.

"allies engaged in struggles against capitalism and other forms of oppression."

You can see here, they consider capitalism it self as a form of oppression, as to their world view, where everyone gets the same thing and power is shared the same, a system where you are rewarded for your works and goods produced would be considered oppressive. There is NOTHING oppressive about capitalism, as it's nature is based on the free and voluntary interactions of people, most people confuse the often government enforced crony capitalism, with actual capitalism.

What is wrong with having reverence for the system that has done more for people than anything else and has across the board worked better than everything else? Specifically when the suggested replacement is one that in ALL its forms has failed, in many cases with massive death counts.

Since you cant apparently understand what I said, I will try repeating it.

"I am more than happy to see someone come up with a better system and try it out on their own dime and time" - I am not opposed to change or trying something different.

Change is OK. Communism however is not OK, under any circumstances. It IS evil and all I have to do to back that up is point you to the 20th century. Stalin, Mao, etc ad naseum. Just as bad as Fascism and guilty of more human misery and deaths.

I was able to get to the riseup page on my phone and read more about their agenda...they are definitely way out on the left and I don't support it. Yet to decide if I care enough about Mozillas donation to stop using their browser which works very, very well for me.
