Hi guys,
For a couple of months now, from cold boot, I have to press the power button twice to start the computer. Pressing it on the first time would start the fans for 1 second or so but the computer will not boot up. If before starting up I turned the power switch on the psu off/on then 1 press of the button would start the computer. On a good day 1 press might turn on the computer but 9 times out of 10 it takes two presses. Is this an indication that the psu wacked ?
The power supply is an Antec Earthwatts 500 watt around 1.5 years old.

Computer:
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra D
Amd 3200 s939 @ 2.75ghz
1GB Kingston DDR
Gefore 7600GT

Thanks !

I'd look for a short to the motherboard first, but it sounds like it may be being overloaded.

i had the same problem with one of my ASUS P5B DLX boards, I replaced it and no more dual boots. :) It could be a number of other things but that was my case.

Doesn't sound like a PSU problem to me. Try another PSU and see what happens.

Thanks for the help guys.
I will be trying another psu soon. One thing to add is before I had this Antec I had a Enermax Noisetaker and if I remember correctly it had the same problem before it died and was replaced. Is it possible that the motherboard is somehow killing power supplies ?

I had this problem with a PSU recently..turned out it was the PSU since it died a few weeks later.

I was just overloading it with all the HDDs in there.

The new 1000watt shouldnt have that problem...

Could be a short somewhere that's causing the psu's to short out? Just an idea though
