(Briefly, my main system is a Q9450 "and all that jazz")
Recently, I picked up a shuttle KPC with an E2180 - total cost of system turned out to be about half of the Q9450 alone, but that's another story. It was going to be my media/file/everything server, and I was planning to chuck it headless in a corner and forget all about it.

Anyway, I was tinkering around and I realized it would make a good hackintosh, and lo and behold, I managed to get Leopard up and running in no time. Except, to me it feels a bit sluggish. Is it just my imagination, or is the low-end chip really hampering the system? Would I be able to see a real world improvement going to, say, a E7200?
 
Can't say for sure. It's only got 1MB of cache, but it's still basically a 2.0ghz Core2... I wouldn't imagine it would be that slow, especially not just clicking around in the OS.

Gaming sure, or even HD video decoding it might be weak, but I wouldn't expect it to be sluggish in plain ol' clicking around in hte OS. I might suspect harddrive speed or memory speed, or lack of memory there.
 
Everything else is pretty up up to spec, I've got 2GB of regular DD2/667 Kingston RAM, and a 500GB SATA HDD, so the only thing that could be bottlenecking is the processor. Not even thinking of running games on this machine, heh.
 
Since it is a hacked OS, you might be feeling the effects of the "hacks". Just a possibility.
 
Well this answers one of my questions. I had planned on doing the same with my KPC. I have an e2200 with @GB 667 memory (though the e2000's are 800MHz FSB).

In the limited snooping I've done, I'm betting the choppiness is from the intel GMA950.
