i was overclocking after reading a guidethat had said to increase ddr, then chipset, then vcore if u can't get into windows. so i was trying to get 225 and i went and increased my v-link to 2.6 from 2.5 then it said windows was corrupt, so i used the setup disk to repair that then i rebooted and my pc crashed after about 5 sec on the windows loading scren and now after the A8V logo comes up and the via raid drivers load, all i get is a error beep and a black screen. Is My mobo dead? or is it the CPU? my system is an ASUS A8V Deluxe with Athlon 64 3500 "newcastle" core

First question is did you try to reset the CMOS? Find the jumper than do that.

you're probably not dead.. i'd disconnect everything from the motherboard. only connect the power supply, cpu and 1 stick of known good ram from another system. see if it posts then. you can start adding stuff back one by one at that point.

if you are dead i'd look at ram\cpu first.

Is the PCI lock working correctly? It sounds like when you OC'd your board, the HDD got corrupted because the bus was running out of spec. It doesn't take much if you're using SATA drives. I'd make sure your PCI lock works, format your HDD and reinstall WinXP, and then try OCing again ;).

ok, thanks for the help but i gave in and took it to a repair shop. :( at least i don't have to worry about it anymore. they said that the board isn't fried, so :)

You should have brought it to me...I would have fixed it for $5 less than they will charge you ;).
