Is higher FSB still better?

Is the hight FSB better than the higher multiplier and higher mem latency?

I have 3 settings that run stable.

7x433 at 6-6-6-20 mem settings
8x375 at 5-5-5-18
8x366 at 4-4-4-12

I play games and do video. I'm not sure which one will give me the best overall performance.

Any opinions?

as you have tested the speeds already, why not run a few benchmarks to see the results that you will actually get.

aye benchmark it, 3dmark if mainly games will do.

this is an odd one

I do not understand why you had to loosen timings unless your memory divider is not set to 2.0 (1:1)

It was set to 1:1, but the system would not even post if I did not back off the mem timings. I was testing the mem at 6x so I would not have a problem with the cpu clock speed.

I'm happy with it right now. I would prefer it quieter than faster.

Are you not able to hit 400 x 8? That would put you at 3.2ghz. I have a similiar setup as you. I am running one of my computers with an E6420, 2 gigs of DDR2-800 GSkill Ram. I'm not sure about your specific motherboard but my 650i Ultra gives me an option to run it UNLINKED. I also have it running 1:1 with the memory running 400 FSB / 1600 Rated FSB. My ram is running at exactly DDR2-800. I can probably tweak another little bit out of the ram to around DDR2-900 speeds, but I am perfectly happy where I am at now. Also, the timings that you listed are a little fifferent that what I have usually found stable for me.. I have always had my best luck with DDR2 memory when its configuration is basically the first 3 latencies / numbers = the final number..

Example..

3-3-3-9
4-4-4-12
5-5-5-15

Very rarely do I try to run 1T anymore.. So, I usually just stick to 2T. Let me know if you were able to get it up to atleast a 400 FSB. A GOOD little program to test your memory speeds is Everest Ultimate. Awesome little program.
