Is Adobe worth it anymore?

I find myself using the Adobe suite less and less every month despite still paying for the whole package.

I have a long history with Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects, Premiere. Heck, I started with Flash animations back before the acquisition when it was still Macromedia.

But lately, I find it harder and harder to justify the monthly subscription. Especially considering Adobe's dirty tactics to lock you in or penalize for early termination.

Photoshop → Figma + Nano Banana Pro

Illustrator → RecraftAI + Figma

Lightroom → Haven't found a descent open source alternative... Mainly needed to organize digital photos and make quick edits.

After Effects → Davinci Resolve (Fusion tab), though I still find myself returning to AE for a lot of client work simply because I know it better.

Premiere → Davinci Resolve (Edit tab)

Adobe Audition → Davinci Resolve (Fairlight tab)

Frame.io → This is a sticky one. I love the service, I got the 100GB promo when they originally ran it. But I'm almost maxed out and may need to upgrade anyway. Perhaps there is a better solutions... Vimeo? Local NAS setup? Ideas?

So besides a few of the sticky points that keep me glued to Adobe, I really wish I could stop paying for "maybe someday I may need this..."

Anyone make the complete switch? What was the unlock?

I use Photoshop almost every day, and really haven't had a desire to start looking into alternatives. The only alternatives I've tried have been the GIMP and Paint.Net, and these were years ago. They were both fine at the time, but not enough to get me to switch.

Were your paying for the complete Creative Cloud? Me, I pay ten bucks a month for all the versions of Lightroom, plus Photoshop, and some cloud storage that I never use.

For me, Lightroom Classic is indispensable in an era of digital photography. I've looked at some "asset managers" and they are OK, but that's only half of the puzzle.

Do you depend on it for income? If so, really there isn’t an alternative as time is money if you depend on a work flow of this software to create your income.

There ya go.

Affinity was originally for Apple only and then a few years ago they released their software for Windows. Canva recently bought them and made it free.

Adobe has not been worth it ever since they went to the dumb subscription model. They even killed off being able to re-activate previously purchased software.

Affinity sucks compared to Adobe. I've tried to go all in with Affinity many times and it's never going to happen. Canva buying them is also a bad thing, not a good thing.

100% worth it still. It just isn't that expensive for what they're providing you.

I've been using Affinity since they first released it for PC.

For raw photo processing it is great. I've also done some vector graphic stuff as well as some regular Photoshop type stuff.

Has always worked fine for me and has improved quite a bit over the earlier releases.
