to run a sapphire 4870, dfi p45, 4gb pc6400 ocz reaper and a q6600 or e8400, and a wd 500gb sata drive?

i'm really budgeted and trying to keep my rig under 1k$ out the door, and have found a few cases on the egg w/ 420 psu's under 60-70$..

thx for the help

More than likely whatever 420W PSU you find in those cases are shit. While a good quality 400W to 450W PSU is enough for your system, generally PSUs that come as part of case/PSU combos are total shit with the exception of Antec and some Coolermaster setups. In fact, looking at Newegg, the only cases that come with a 420W PSU are Apevia and Raidmax made, both well known for low-quality or shitty PSUs

Due to your high-end setup, I do not recommend at all cheaping out on the PSU. It will be the stupidest thing you'll do with that kind of PC.

You could shave off some cash by going with a cheaper P45 motherboard.

You could go this route:
Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU - $60
Antec 300 ATX Case - $60
---
Total $120 plus tax.

Both the case and PSU come with free shipping so that should lower your costs by a bit. The EA500 is the bare minimum I'll recommend for a setup like yours.

LoL...i'm an idiot. I was thinking "oh whats a '300' case?" I'm used to it being spelled. :p

The Antec PSU Danny listed will do the trick. A high-end quad-core system with a 4870 draws around 300W from the power supply under load, so any quality PSU around 400-500W will have you set for a while. You could also take a look at the Corsair 450VX which is $60 after MIR and is one of, if not the best ~400W PSUs on the market.
