It's been over a year since 28nm came out, and I've not even seen anyone refer to what's coming up next..

Is it 20nm?
 
Possibly for AMD, they use TSMC for some of their APU's. Although right now all I see are them using 28nm for future APU's I The demand for 20nm apparently is/will be very high, I would imagine most of that is due to mobile devices such as tablets and cellphones though. But there are still roomers out there that they will be using 20nm for their GPU's

Didn't the companies say that the cost of going to smaller fabrications wouldn't really be worth the gains or something for a while?
 
Quantum commuting and 3-dimentional chips are the next steps...
(right now all the chips are 2D)

You mean you listen to what companies say about the future? Product teases and future technology prospects are nice and all but I can't bring myself to take them overly serious about anything they say unless it is about something being "Available now."
