IQ differences

NV looks much clearer than ATI...and in a DX9 benchmark...

It could be anything. From my previous complaint about lighting and Farcry issues, this looks like the same thing.

ATi is properly rendering the reflected light on a bump-mapped texture, where Nvidia assumes all textures are *simple* and flat for reflected light. That would account for the very consise looking light in the Nvidia shot, you can see the same effect in Farcry when you go into the bathroom and look at the tiles on the floor with reflected light, Nvidia uses a simpler flat light model for it.

As for what looks better to me, in this particular case the *simple* Nvidia shot looks better.

Very true, noticed this aswell.

I am not going to get into what one looks better. They both look good and I do not know if it is supposed to look like picture A or picture B.

However, I was flipping through the two larger pictures at Driverheaven (lined up of course) and after a few quick flips between pictures it seems that there are a lot of differences between the two. Most noticably the water moves in relation to the ship. It is almost like the two pictures being compared are 1 frame apart.

Standard Disclaimer: This post is just an observation and not meant to ad fuel to either camp.

Its because nVidia is using DST. Once disabled, they will both look the same. So technically ATi's is the proper rendering.

I would have never noticed this unless someone told me.

So will we see DST "disabled" by default so both cards render the same? Seems like nV is getting free points?
