iPod nano screen scratching?

Next in the courts: Man sues florist because a petal fell off of the roses he bought for his wife.

I duno, I'm just not concerned at all with scratches on mine...to me, its pretty much a disposable toy with a lifespan of...two-three years (short term for me). I care more about perfection on my car, how I look...not my MP3 player which I really don't look at most of time, nor does anyone else look at...so it doesn't matter to me :D

plus as long as it keeps playing music and i can read the screen, im happy. I am careful not to drop the thing, though, and not to keep it in tight pockets and such, as I've heard of LCD breakage with certain people.

My nano's lcd broke (just had it in my pocket) and I think apple is replacing it free of charge. I had an invisibleShield, but this time I'm going to get an Agent18 polycarbonite case for it.

I work for the Geek squad at Best Buy, and I see at least 1 Nano come back every day with a broken screen... these things are super fragile... bad biz by apple in my opinon, because unfortunatly... a broken screen is considered "physical damage" and cannot be exchanged so for all the people out there who have a cracked screen (the numbers are going up daily), even with BB's Protection Plan the broken Nanos are not covered(physical damage).. its bullshi*t, and I hate having to tell people to hope for a class action lawsuit so they will be refunded..

Seems to me it's only speculation that less resin was used. Until someone comes out with actual proof I just see this as a whining minority.

Still bought one of those Agent18 covers though ;). Even though it's a friggin rip off.

This just gets better. Various posts on ilounge, apple forums, apple store comments now seem to be blaming "cases" for scratching. That's right, the cases are to blame now! :p

Why shouldn't people be able to use thier nano the way Apple has advertised it without damange?

Are you kidding me? You DO NOT put a bare ass iPod in your pocket and expect it not to get scratched. Any model, any polished plastic whatever material these devices are made of. Regualr ipods get scratched easily as well. It's a shame that they didn't have the covers available at launch but come on, use some common sense. Apple has never said that it was scratchproof. They only advertise it's size. Apple can not be responsible for the contents of your jeans pockets. If your material isn't coarse and the pockets are free of debris then you shouldn't have a problem with scratches. I keep mine in my shirt pocket and on occasion in my pants pocket and I only have a MINOR scratch on the edge of it that you really don't see unless you look for it. I dropped it once on the floor and didn't incur any damage. My 3g iPod got scratched sitting in my bag with no protector for and hour and I learned my lesson really quick and kept that sucker in it's case. I'm really curious as to what these people did with thier iPods that the screen somehow becomes UNUSABLE in such a short period of time. I didn't buy a bulky ass protector for my Nano which I could have picked up at the Digital Life convention because the whole point of the Nano is it's super slim design. It dissapears in my pocket, I like that.

Thanks to the fellow that mentioned the InvisibleSkin. I'm ordering one now. Sorry for the rant but I'm tired of the "We've been deceived" when it's really just unrealistic expectations of a products performance. Yes it would be nice to have it stay nice and shiny for the rest of the products life while not using a protective cover but with the material and finish being used it's not going to happen. It's a music player. Listen to the music, quit obsessing over it's finish.

Some guy claims to have acheived close to factory finish results with iCleaner. I'll try this out myself at some point on my 3G and then my Nano. http://www.ipodgarage.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=14824
