No surprises here: Apple just announced that iPhone OS 3.0 will support copy and paste. A double-tap auto-selects the text you want with movable "grab points," and a pop-up edit bar display buttons for cut, copy, and paste. Finally! It works in every major app, including SMS and Safari, and what's more, there's also "shake to undo," which is exactly what it sounds like: a quick shake brings up a box that allows you to undo and redo c/p actions. It's a pretty nifty implementation, sure, but it's a little silly we've had to wait this long for it, don't you think?

yep I don't see why they couldn't do that in the first release .. oh well better late then never right? :)

That's good to hear. I've been considering a new cell phone, and at $200 it's actually reasonable now. I just need to get past the whole thing of having an expensive data plan, but I really do want that phone.

Dreamin on

Title should read "iPhone finally getting copy and paste!" XD

But yeah, definitely looking forward to that elite feature. :)

I wondering how long it will take to make it an unlocked phone under 3.0??

The iPhone might even catch up with today's technology if it also gets true multitasking and video recording at some point in the future...

I think apple is doing this to milk users with each generation. They have the technology and know it all to add all the features, but they wont because they want to keep making money off each new gen phone.

Either way, they won't get my money until it's available for Verizon. Maybe by the time that happens we'll have the iPhone with all the features we really want :).

My iPhone has video recording, no I idea what you are talking about.

For 3G Iphone users the copy and paste, MMS, ect will be available as a software upgrade. You dont have to buy a new phone.

unfortunately corporate users don't really have the option of jailbreaking. My company locks any "unauthorized modifications to the device core" from accessing the exchange server

Luckily mine doesn't :D.

It is about time...

I agree though, they already have all the knowledge of how the tech works. I do not really think they are milking each generation phone but I mean this got to a point of frustration where people just hated the iphone for not being able to do such simple tasks other pda phones could do.
