iPhone Clock Bungles Time Change

If you were two hours late for work today, chances are you are an iPhone owner. Apple could not be reached for comment, apparently the company's phones are off by two hours too.

It turns out some users' phones fell back one hour instead of springing forward, making the time displayed on the iPhone two hours off. This is just the latest clock woe for Apple's chic iPhone.

Yeah, I don't know what their deal with the clock app is. Everything else works beautifully, but the clock app is entirely broken. At this point, I suspect that they want it to be broken, because there's really no other sensible explanation for these issues.

Mine went off at the right time yesterday morning but an hour late this morning, so I don't get it.

The time change was In the middle of the weekend. You had all day sunday to figure out your clock was wrong. If you failed to do so, well that is your own fault. I use my phone as an alarm clock (not that I need too with two kids), though I have android. Even though I know it is automatic, I Always verify its time after a time change.

The clock itself is fine. The alarm is broken: it triggers at the wrong time.

My alarms are fine too as did my time-change. Not sure what's up with some people's iPhones and why it only happens on some of them.

I don't think many people update their iPhones though. Since I don't use iTunes myself, sometimes I get surprised when I see that I'm a couple versions behind on my updates. I wish iPhone iOS updates announces themselves in the App Store like everything else does.

3gs on 3.1.3 and 3gs on 4.3 both went off at the wrong time.

I agree if you only have one alarm you're taking a chance though.

All companies have had issues with DST changes since the government started screwing around with it.

Have you any idea how many Outlook/Windows patches have been released for this? A lot. This is the first year I haven't seen one yet unless it came in under the wire.

There's a driving force for that. TZ data gets updated all the time, and not just in the US.
It's not really appropriate to compare desktop software to mobile phones for purposes of TZ compliance.

I hadn't been hit by any of the time issues with the iPhone before. This time it bit me in the ass. My clock adjusted fine all day on Sunday. This morning my alarm which is set for 5:00 AM goes off; when I look at the alarm it says 6:00AM! I freak out and hit the slider; at which point the time at the top of the phone now says 5:00 AM. Thoroughly confused I check it online, yup it's 6:00AM.

What a cluser*$!@.

Shrug, like I said... There was no issue here. Alarm went off at the correct time, and the clock was also correct.

I don't put anything past 99% of iPhone users. Sure there are some of us that know how to use technology... But most users are just idiots.

I bet they're creative enough for all of them to figure out that they can blame being late to work on their iPhones, since everyone else is going to use the same excuse. "oh shit there was a dst problem before, there must be one now!"

You are talking about isheep here. It wouldn't even occur to most of them that thier magic iphone could somehow be wrong. They'd probably call up the TV station wanting to know why their show is on at the wrong time.
