I use mine for presentations and it does that well. I also use it to keep up with work email when I'm at meetings and/or out of office during work hours.
 
It seems expensive but it's a complete computer in an ultra-portable format. BTW the questions are rigged to create negative results. Even the title is biased, the fear is showing.
 
My iPad perfectly performs all the functionality I want of it:

eBook reading
Web browsing
Sheet music display

All while requiring me to charge it less than 1 time per week.
