So does that mean that Vaulter is our very first SR2 owner on our team? I can't wait to see those numbers! Hurry up and get that thing running! BTW what kind of case and ventilation do you plan on using?

I'm betting no case, maybe a mobo tray at most.

That said if vaulter doesn't get it up and running soon I might be first. My amazon giftcard should be here today or tomorrow. Yay credit card points!

No tray, bare wood

and it's not my largest mobo, a full inch and a half x half inch smaller than my quad socket

once I get off duty I'll get that bad boy running, but I'm still on orders thru Saturday. Ordered my ram today, hopefully it'll be home by Monday / Tuesday

Amazon doesn't appear to be selling any SR2's at this time unless your giftcard also works when you buy from Amazon's partners through their site. If so, you better hurry as their partner BUY.com only has 4 SR2's left at the obscene markup price of $600.

Another naked folder? If you need ram quick, I suppose you could just go to Micro Center or other store? We want numbers and porn.

599.99 is the MSRP. Yes the GC work with anything on Amazon's site. They have had 4 all day. Not a huge market for mobos like this. Just we crazy few.

I think you would be shocked at how mnay of us run rigs with little to no cover.

Who is selling an SR-2 for less?

$594.99 at buy.com! :D

$5 bucks off with free shipping to you lower 48 guys!! :D

Call me cheap....actually I am cheap.
I think 600$ is too much for this board. 400-450 is a price range that I'd consider acceptable. Given the dubious future of the socket, I couldn't justify buying a mainboard that costs so much.
I would hope to get 5 years of productivity out of it, that would likely be impossible if intel only develops processors that fit it for 2 more years.

Then again, tires for my car are about 600$ and I have to buy them almost annually.:mad:

If you look at other Server boards (dual LGA1366) with similar features, you will notice they are also $600....But they dont Overclock

So its actually a really good value

That's true. I was just doing a quick search on newegg and I guess that the SR-2 is a value compared to the other Intel, Supermicro, and Tyan boards.

Not to mention someone like me that can take his 2.4GHz chips and get a 50-75% OoC out of them.

Compare it to X58 boards with 7 PCI Express slots, even.

It's $200 more than the ASUS P6T7, $170 more than the EVGA E762, and $100 LESS than the Gigabyte UD9.

I thought MSRP on the SR2 was $499. I didn't realize that it was actually $599. I guess I am a traditionalist, so I am into making sure computers are fully covered. Naked computers just look so wierd, and I always worry about potential damage if something wierd happens.

Bit of a thread necro, but thought I'd update with some actual data now that I got my SR-2 system up and running and tweaked a bit. Well over 100 PpDpW is right.

Pair of X5650 hex core Xeons at 4.07GHz each (185x22) with memory at 1850MHz:

Full load -bigadv power draw = 590W
TPF = 11:35 = 121975 PPD

PpDpW = 206

Very Nice!
