How is this for a “minimalist” case! This is basically an acrylic motherboard tray that has slots for your hard drive, optical drive, a space for your PSU, a built in handle and not much else. Imagine taking that to your next LAN party.

You'd probably have to guard your system the whole time you were at a LAN though...

"hey, who took my video cards!" "Where's my RAM?"

:D

Read the headline and thought it was about another meritless Jack Thompson lawsuit.

All components out in the open like that!I would think static discharge would be an issue? Cool case anyways :)

I could see my cat walking right onto that thing while its on. He is always a furry bag of static.

I don't want to say that's a horrible idea, but yeah that's a horrible idea.

Well, it doesn't look wall mountable. Screws the data center I want to do in my bedroom.

I could have something similar made in Aluminum for less...........and it would be stronger.

Hmm.....((thinking)). I should see how much it would be to anodize it too.;)

I ran a skeletal case for about 6 years. I am clumsy as heck. Always spilling stuff, knocking stuff over, etc... Only ever managed to break one USB port. If I can handle it, so can you guys. Arguably though, even a skeletal case is safer than this.

Well I can see this being useful for reviewers in hardware sites so they can swap parts out easier. But with cats in my house, I don't see me using it.

Besides, I love how they always show cases without cables plugged in. Plug in all the cords and cables and lets see if that caseless case stays nice. :-P

won't the system run cooler with having an enclosed case w/fans blowing airflows? otherwise, on this type of an open system u still need to have some sort of airflow with fan-mounts somewhere. aint i right?:

that would actually work out pretty well for those of us that run open air folding/boinc rigs..

yes they would but you wouldnt have to run as much cooling because your other heat producing hardware wont effect each other for example with a normal case if you run after market cooling on your gfx cards you dont have to worry about that heat effecting your cpu temps or northbridge temps..

I'm currently doing something similar with an old MB tray and whats left of some bay devices as a test bed, tray/board mounted on the outside, drives/storage in the case, (or whats left of the case. Works fairly well for what it is but yea mine is made of old case bits and pieces... wouldn't pony up $75 for that...

I LOVE how all the cabling actually DISAPPEARS when you install your components on this baby! w00t w00t! They couldn't hide the HSF cable though.. :(

I love the big heavy power supply on the right side end corner. And from the looks it is already bending under that pressure. Not to mention their is no shock protection and the hard drive is mounted on the bottom. Seems like i can take a piece of wood and make the same for about 5 bucks.

This thing is a POS, has no use, no support and FAILS
They shouldn't even be serious about this item.

Good Day

I actually was considering buying, but $70 is a bit much, would be great to test systems on.

I guess I've always sort of thought the reason to have a case was to, you know, protect and contain your components. I see no logical reason to use this, other than maybe as an open test bench. Even then, you could use something a lot cheaper. The fact that it has a handle is even more stupid; as if you're going to be carrying around exposed components. Plus, I don't know about you guys, but my computer weighs a ton. I wouldn't trust some tiny little acrylic handle to hold, let alone the strength of those tiny case screws to hold on something as heavy as, say, the PSU.

Testing bench...maybe.

Lan center/party..... hell no!

The motherboard still beats this bitch out, in functionality.

well, i think the idea is not a bad one, just not having any protection is the main problem, i would like to see the weight of one made out of wood or aluminum VS. this ones weight with everything on it. it is a good idea, lightweight not having to lug around a heavy case, just no protection and the price is a little high the acrylic motherboard tray could be a little thicker.

$75 buck is too steep for that thing.

I like the idea, for a test bench at work, but the power supply is totally going to tip that thing over.
