Intel Smart Response Technology vs. OCZ Accelerator

hey all,

I have been considering doing an SSD cache on my stepsons rig.

He likes to have WAY too many games installed at the same time, making an SSD only system (even if only for programs and OS) impractically expensive.

An SSD cache should provide some benefit, but still allow him to install all the games he wants to, which is why I am looking at this.

So has there been any comparison of these two technologies? I have googled but can't seem to find any direct comparisons.

Is either significantly faster, more efficient, more reliable, or in another way better than the other?

I haven't seen any tests, but I certainly trust Intel more than OCZ for something like that.

I have the SRT installed on my son's rig, and it works great. He also has alot of games installed, nightmarish amount imo. At any rate, we installed a 60GB OCZ vertex3 drive and turned on the read only caching and it works great. Any game he plays more than once seems to get cached pretty quickly. I have a dedicated OS SSD and his system boots nearly as fast as mine, but when playing games, his level loads are instant where mine are being read off a WD Black drive and much much slower. If your son has a Z68 or better Intel platform, I would highly suggest doing the SRT method. If not, you may want to consider a hybrid drive for him instead...

I agree, put one in for my dad's laptop since he recently "discovered" Facebook and it's games. Before his laptop was slowly chugging along, now it is pretty seamless, no problems after 6 months.
