In the wake of recent high-profile data breaches, Intel Security is leading an effort on World Password Day 2014 to help educate consumers worldwide on the importance of password safety. Passwordday.org, a dedicated destination for password education powered by Intel Security, encourages people to take the pledge to change or strengthen their passwords and proactively protect personal information online.

Passwords are outdated - something new is needed. You can't expect everyone to remember 50 zillion password/username combinations for every business, system, website, whatever. At my job there are 160+ distinct IS systems I have admin access to - I am required to have different credentials on them all. It's friggin insane. Then they want it changed every 60 days minimum of 14 char and all complexity options are required - Upper, Lower, special, number.

Sounds more like they want people to update their passwords to give the NSA a playground of time to be observing and checking things. :D
