I finally got myself a SSD (AData 64gb w/ Sandforce1200 controller). Is the Intel RST driver needed, or should I just stick with the standard Windows AHCI driver?

Doesn't hurt to update the drivers, although some would argue the old ones included with Windows or on Windows Update are just fine. I have an older laptop that uses ICH8 but I still get the latest Matrix Storage driver and toss it on there just in case.

Intel wouldn't be producing new(er) drivers if there wasn't some reason... that's my thinking.

Thanks. I'll give the RST driver a try and see how it goes.

Anyone know what the deal is with the 10.1.2.1004 RST driver? I can find it on www.station-drivers.com, but not on downloadcenter.intel.com.

I wouldn't trust Intel drivers from any source other than Intel's website itself, but that's just me.

The way it's laid out can be problematic to find things nowadays, even if you're searching for something specific like the drivers by name or by device. It's weird but, the latest drivers are there, just gotta find 'em. Latest driver they have is 10.1.2.1008 found here:

32 bit

64 bit

Station Drivers always seems to have Beta releases.

I dunno where they come from but I'd be willing to wager they come from Intel.

It's no big deal and I've used them with no problems.

Just make sure your back-up is current.
