Hey guys, humor me on this one:

Post the following...

1) P4/533 2.53 @ 3.0GHz. (Stock Fan with CPU @ 1.70V)

2) Idle Temp = 38C (100F)

3) Load Temp = 49C (120F)


The purpose of this is to find where I should be running. Plus, it's cool to see where everyone else is compared to yours.
 
P4 2.4C @ 3.2

Idle: 42 C
Load: 53 C

Zalman CNPS-7000AlCu

I'm using an Abit though, and apparently, even when using MBM, the temp reading is still getting it from the Abit sensor, so my temps might be 3 - 5 C higher than the reading.
 
2.4C @ 3.6ghz

Idle : ~33c
Load : ~48c

Im using a Thermalright SLK-948U w/ 92mm Panaflo

Currently on a [kinda donated] Coolermaster Aero 4.

I'm going to get a better CPU cooler this summer to keep low temps and reduce noise, but I'm not getting much help on the question I posted. Oh well. :-p

I ran across this today. I have the new Abit AI7. Why does Abit do this to the temps?

So, I can automatically take 10C off my temp readings?
 
Abits use a slightly different equation to calculate the temp from the readings it gets from the CPU sensor. It's a question that's noted on the Abit forums.

Where did you read that though? Abits read high, but I don't think it's as drastic as 10 - 15. I've heard anywhere from 3 - 5 up to 10, so I really don't know.

I can't understand why I get such high temps now. Originally I used to get 33 and around 48. I've used a total crap load of Ceramique and now a real thin layer of Ceramique, and I get around the same temps. Anybody know what the heck is going on? I have 5 case fans, two blow in at the front, two blow out at the back, and one blows in at the side.

I'm going to assume these temps are accurate. If they're off due to Abits utility all the better.
Load temps got as high as 58 when overclocked to 3150ghz and running Prime 95 for 4 hours.

Do you live in a refridgerator or some place with a very low ambient temp?

edit: wait, you use an Asus board, which uses a different way of calculating CPU temps and they report very low temps.

No the readings are correct. I touched the heatsink while it was priming and well....it wasn't hot or even warm...I'm in the basement so the ambient temps are somewhere around 40-54F

if it is true that abit mobos are showing higher temps how much higher?

Type Arctic Silver in the search at newegg.

I came across a tube of the copper stuff 2nd down on the list. I am getting around 125F under UT2K4 with retail fan on my P4 2.53 @ 2.8GHz.

What is the best arctic silver stuff to get? Is the copper any good or should I get some of this other stuff in this list? Which one transfers the heat the best?

Also, after applying, do you have to let it set in for a couple days or can you expect the most heat transfer right away?

With the Arctic Silver, should I scrape off the intel heat pad or keep it?
