Friggin insane. for a cpu that is gonna cost $116 CANadian.

Just so you know its a 1 mb Cache cpu. but friggin insane little chip for a Budget build.
Expecially hitting these #'s
 
whats the mobo you are using , and is it watercooling you are using , have you tried orthos?

Man, I am thinking more and more now aboot trying one of these 2160's instead of a 4300. Everyone is OC'in the shiznit out of these chips very easily. :cool:

My 4300 hits 17 second super PI at 3.1GHz in Windows XP (32bit), it took 3.6GHz for that cpu to go just below it..... the lack of 1B cache definitely shows. The cpu is impressive but I would still take a 4300 for a few bucks more any time. What I am trying to say is just because it can overclock more doesn't always mean it is going to still be faster.

True, but sometimes OC'in isn't simply just about the most performance you can get. There's a bit more to it than that. For some, there is fun and challenge in taking a bottom of the barrel chip and seeing what you can accomplish with it.
 
this is just to prove that a budget builder. is always good for overclock too.

it all depends on the purpose. But a lot of other ppl have been hitting 3.5ghz with the commando.

this one was using P5K Deluxe.
 
what is the vcore to do that?

prime stable?

if not prime stable for 4+ hours then = no big deal to me
 
edit: just saw that 3.9 and :eek: when it get's that high then stability isn't as important bec i will be stable for sure at like 3.6-3.7 or more
 
Is this one of those single core C2D's ive heard so little about, or is it just a ultra low cache dual core celeron lookin chip?
 
its 1 mb cache.. for something that near $100 mark you cant go wrong..

personally. cant wait until Q6600 prices drop and I can play with that :D

ewiz has no 2160s

2140 are 100 shipped

got my e4300 used for 90 shipped

new e4300 is 114 shipped at the egg


so yea you could pretty easily "go wrong" :D
 
2140 should be 75

2160 should be 85

e4300 should be 100ish


priced wrong IMHO

maybe it's cause of supply though

He quoted CAD$ price. US$ should be 97$ at retail but indeed 85$ in lots of 1000.

... Unless you are answering about the egg price ?
 
Official prices are as follows:

E2140 74USD
E2160 84USD
E4300 113USD.

The E2160 should be 90 CND if you allow for perfect exchange rates, but that tpyically never occurs. 100 CND would be reasonable as sometimes you can see the E4300 for as low as 130 CND these days. This is of course ignoring taxes just the base cost.

Heh. I have quite a few Celeron D's and a couple P4's that are pretty worthless right now.

no shit. i wish ddr prices would crash like ddr2 is doing right now. i have enough stuff for 2 more vista premium mce boxes to use as pvrs, except for ram. i have a 3700 sandy and a 4000 sandy, plus a tforce 6100, a foxconn 6150k8ma-8ekrs(terrific oc'er) and a couple 6600gt's. the stuff will be great for this, but at this time has not much dollar value. i dont know if i feel like dropping $250 on 2 2gb sets of ddr, at this point. i probably have 6 or 7 s939 boards around - 2x evga sli (nf41?nf43? got free with 7900gt's) 2x dfi ultra-d's modded to sli-d, dfi rs482 infinity and an epox nf4 ultra or 2.

evidence of that was my recent sale of 2x512 BH5 sticks for $80 shipped and my purhcase of 2x1GB ddr2 for 80 shipped

that same ram is now 70 shipped brand new at ewiz....


ddr2 = dirt cheap

think i might try to get my hands on some of that D9 stuff next :D

g.skill hz (d9gmh) for sale around $114 at newegg for 2 x 1gb. this ram was $240 2 months ago. $300 in december. almost always does over 1100mhz, and many do over 1200mhz.

Amen to that. I just bought a used 939 combo with X2 3800+ and I forgot that I've sold 512 Mb sticks before :( Shopping around made my eyes O_O with the stupid prices where you can get double the amount of DDR2 for the same price as DDR...

This is a clear proof DDR technology is now fading into oblivion.

 
Someone posted a link somewhere on this forum (tried search, couldn't find) of the processor not doing much worse than the 4300 at stock in GAMES. SuperPi is one thing but I don't run SuperPi all day and neither do most people. Folding is, obviously, another story, but for the majority of people the cache doesn't seem to make a huge difference.

Also, there's no way that thing does 3.9 on 1.2Vcore? Is that right? My e4300 Does 3 @ 1.32 or so but 1.2 is low.

With these prices, super budget builders can choose intel's e2140 over amd's x3600 brisbane for less than $10 more.
