Intalling new psu need advice.

I didn't really think about this before I bought the case and psu. The case is built for the psu to be installed on the bottom of the case. But I noticed that the psu has a huge fan on the bottom. Should I have this fan facing the bottom of the case? Or should I reverse it and have the fan facing up?

the fan on the bottom of the PSU is intake, so you want it facing down toward the grill so it can intake cool air from outside the case.

Exactly like it should. Just make sure that you dont set the case on carpet.....I have the same PS in a bottom mount case and it workin fine..

if the computer is going to sit on carpet make sure the fan is taking air from inside the case. If its going to be on a desk top or up off the ground, having the intake on the bottom of the case is fine.

So if the purpose of the PSU fan is to intake hot computer air, wouldn't the PSU installed on the bottom of the case (like the OP) go against that concept?

I have a Corsair 550W and I held the PSU by it's cords. Would it have caused any damage? Just paranoid........

Shouldn't be any damage unless you started swinging it around your head like a flail.

My antec 900 said in the case directions to install the fan facing up in the event a downfiring PSU is used. What good will a fan blowing directly into carpet do? It's not going to force the air through the fibers or levitate the case off the ground.

Is that a TJ-09 you got there? Or its the bigger brother TJ-10? I got the TJ-09 and when i was building the PC i new the PSU was on the bottom so i got PC P&C 750W, it's fan is on the back so i didn't have this problem plus i got the black version that matched the case well. Getting a simiular PSU in your case would have been better, but i guess its too late for that. In any event, congrats on the case, you gonna love this baby, it will have evrything running nice and cool, just be sure to keep the PSU cables out of the mid-sections fan's way by using zip ties and zip mounts and you'll be all set.

Yea I agree don't set it on the carpet unless you want a PC vacuum.

the way he's going to install it (PSU fan facing out), how is it going to suck the hot computer air in? (like most PSU fans do when it's installed at the top of the case)

. Unfortunately or otherwise, the corsair 140mm fan isn't the least bit powerful under normal circumstances (how do you spell?).
