Installing SSD in laptop and need help

Ok I was given some money as a business expense from my boss to upgrade and I chose to get a 128GB SSD for my year and a half old laptop (HP DV5Z-1000).

Google wasn't much help, for once, so I'm posting here. I just bought it and it hasn't shipped yet, so if I can't figure this out I can likely cancel it. When I opened my laptop's hard drive bay the connector on the back is different than what I expected. I've never installed a 2.5" drive but I can tell this isn't typical desktop stuff.
Here's a pic of what I mean:

It looks like the actual SATA connection is on a board underneath the hard drive, shown here (it's white, towards the top):

So is this installation going to be possible? Or should I pay someone to do it for me, which I'd rather not. Does Microcenter do this sort of stuff for a fee, I live close by one?

Any and all help is appreciated.

You'll need to find, download, and view the service manual (or any advanced manual) for the laptop you currently have. Based on the pictures, it seems as if the black "strip" that's connected to the Hitachi HDD is where your SATA connections are located. You should be able to replace the HDD (to an SSD) on your own, but it may not be entirely easy.

As for the SSD itself, it's a relatively new model, so there hasn't be much useful information on it. (Namely, I can't determine which controller board it uses, though I've just started searching for information a few moments ago....)

Yes that black strip you mentioned doesn't look like it can be removed.
I'll try and find a service manual for it.

Ok found the service manual. It looks like that black strip will come out, according to manual it does. But when I looked at it earlier it looked like it wouldn't.

@Oldie - So you think the connector will work fine for the SSD I chose? It is Sata2, and that's what the HP guy told me too. If so that's awesome.

Yes, the drive in there and the SSD have the exact same connector. The attachment to the laptop is nothing more than an adapter. If I remember right, it should just pull straight off.

+1 I'm 99% sure that it will not be a problem at all. Just use the same adapter with the SSD.

Hell yeah it took a little effort to get it off but you're right. Can't wait to get the SSD now!
thx again
